"Stay here if you can. It was great!"

10.0

Everything. The cottage was very roomy and comfortable. A unique bed and breakfast that was the perfect setting for the end of our Irish journey. Barbara was a wonderful host with great suggestions for local activities.

"An expensive disappointment marred by the very poor quality & standards of this accommodation."

1.0

A nicely located pretty looking cottage described to me as ‘luxury’ accommodation. However, it was everything but! On the plus side, the sinks, toilet, bed linen & towels were clean, the kitchen floor was swept and the central areas of carpets were vacuumed, but unfortunately that’s where ‘luxury’ stopped.

Carpet moth infestation throughout! There was an active & extensive infestation with carpet moth larvae shells in abundance complete with large areas of moth eaten carpets. Our suitcases remained unpacked & zipped up. Prior cleaning was clearly limited & very superficial with evidence of long term dirt, kitchen grease, cobwebs & dead flies on & behind curtains & pelmets & in between units. The cooker hood was disgusting, covered in a thick layer of grease and dust and kitchen windows and sills had not seen a cloth in a very long time complete with a rusty can in situ and rusty ring marks. Salad bowl spinner and kitchen scales provided were grimy & dirty & unfit for use, the microwave interior base was rusty & the side walls were dirty. We found Barbara’s x2 daily visits 'inviting' herself in each time to be unsettling & disruptive & soon became an anticipated & unwelcomed intrusion on our privacy. She regularly complained about us having the heating on, despite being out all day and its usage limited to just 1 hour in the morning & 2 hours in the evening. Barbara also blamed our use of the heating for the uncleanliness of the cottage. The moth infestation problem & lack of cleanliness throughout the cottage is totally unacceptable & indefensible when being used as a rental property with paying customers. We are extremely disappointed and very upset at having paid over £1000 for what should have been a birthday holiday treat, for it to be marred by the very poor quality & standards of this accommodation. No, until properly cleaned, we would certainly not recommend it as a play to stay. *Uploaded pictures of the moth eaten carpets have been removed?? **We're very content & embracing our busy retirement, fit & well & enjoying our lives to the full. No torch needed to see the dirt, we loved exploring Ireland & had no problem with the roads.
