Fantastic place to take a break, people are friendly and Janis is a super host.

This is a lovely accommodation in Scarborough close to the beach and all the shops and great restaurants and we spent a super 8 days here. The owner was very kind and helpful when we realised that we had booked TreeTops instead of Olive Cottage. Given that it was pouring with rain the night we arrived (May 2024), the openness of Treetops to the elements (the kitchen has a tent covering, the bedrooms are closed wooden cabins) was not our thing. However, Olive Cottage was perfect! Cosy and comfortable and the occasional visit by the owners dog Storm was always a delight.

Our stay at Olive Cottage was nothing short of perfect. From the moment we stepped in, we were impressed by the rustic comfort and cleanliness of the cottage. The highlight for us was the great water pressure in the shower and, with the cooler weather approaching, the extra blankets to wrap up in when relaxing on the couches - a small, thoughtful detail that makes a massive difference. The kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering and we loved the fact that the sliding doors leading to the verandah opened up completely, offering amazing views of the sea and surrounding treetops. It felt like being one with nature while still being sheltered from the wind. For those who aren't fond of furry visitors, there is a gate on the verandah to keep the dogs out, however we thoroughly enjoyed the resident, very friendly, German Shepherd popping in to say good morning as soon as we switched the kettle on for coffee in the morning, and then again for a quick visit in the evening to say goodnight, so we preferred to leave the gate open. Janis, the owner, is a great host, striking the perfect balance between attentiveness and respect for our privacy and the nearby restaurants and beach are conveniently within walking distance if you felt like a leisurely stroll. The cottage gave us a sense of seclusion and tranquility and provided the ideal escape every afternoon after a hectic day in Cape Town. We will definitely be back and have already recommended Scarborough Nature Lodge to our friends.

The scenery and tranquility was amazing . Friendly staff, clean and comfortable room and bathroom.

Stunning views, with a great apartment on all levels - had everything we needed, and we really loved our stay there!!
