Manthally Cabanas

If you are looking for accommodation away from the main strip in Hikkaduwa, I would strongly recommend this place. Set in the trees, these cabanas are really well built and very comfortable. The four poster bed had a really good mosquito net (much needed as you are in the middle of the jungle) and the room featured air conditioning and a fan. At night you can lie in bed or sit out on the balcony enjoying the sounds of nature. An amazing experience. The plunge pool was a bonus too. And finally, the breakfast was amazing! All of the best Sri Lankan foods and good coffee.

We had a wonderful two nights stay in the cabanas. The guys that work here are wonderful - friendly, helpful and always keeping the territory clean and cosy. The room was clean and the wood makes everything look beautiful. Our room was without A/C but with a ceiling fan. Next time we would choose a room with A/C. Breakfast was very generous, local and super delicious. We did not managed to eat everything that was prepared for us. Guys cook amazingly! The distance to the city did not caused any problem. Tuk-tuk to the city costs ~1€ or so and the staff dropped us there couple of times for free. It was nice to leave all the noise there and get back to our jungle for night's sleep. We also got a chance to check-in earlier, thanks for that!

amazing location, it was super relaxing and the experience of being in the middle of the jungle was the cherry on top of the cake. super close to Galle: it is a really beautiful place!

Everything! The cabanas and the little cute pool are made with so much love and attention to details. The yard is full of greenery, birds and life, so beautiful. But most amazing is the hospitality of Rasi, Chami and especially Anwar who always went extra mile for caring of us. The breakfast was lovely, freshly home made and varied every day. It was really hard to leave the place.

Absolutely dead quiet. No tuk tuk or bike signs, just the odd barking dog. Tuk tuk drivers will tell you it's "jungle side", and it's about a 20 minute walk to Narigama beach then a further 20 minutes to Hikka beach, or a 500 or so tuk tuk but finding one down to the beach might be difficult. I suggest walking down and tuk tuk back. The hosts were great. The breakfast was a fusion of Sri Lankan/Western. Foxy the dog was gorgeous. The cabanas are really beautiful in that setting.

The hot water lasted 3 minutes the first morning and didn't work at all the second morning. The mosquito net for the bed had some holes in it. And the air con wasn't really working despite all doors and windows shut. But this didn't hinder the stay. At nigh if the tuk tuk driver drops you on the main road and doesn't drive up, you will need a torch as it's very dark. When you get to the cabanas the night manager will be there with a torch to help you find your cabana (I think there's only 4 or 5 of them anyway).

Absolutely beautiful property - our 2nd time staying here as we love it so much. The rooms are so nice and spacious. Quality of the breakfast is outstanding and our favourite in Sri Lanka so far (including proper English tea). Very clean and the setting is lovely.

Nothing. Other than being a little 5 minute tuk tuk or 25 minute walk from the beach - but we didn’t mind about this as it was nice to be in quiet area.
