Deki Lodge

A lovely 1930s lodge well run by a friendly owner. I had a light and airy room with windows on two sides overlooking the street, with wood paneling on the walls, a rug on the floor and solid period wood furniture, including a large bed. It had a small attached bathroom with plenty of hot water. It felt very cozy and homely there. Breakfast was available which you can take on a nice terrace which catches the morning sun. The lodge is on a quiet street, but is only a short walk (10 minutes) into the centre of Kalimpong and the jeep taxi stands. There are numerous cafes and restaurants nearby and other handy facilities on the same street (ATM, barbershops).

It didn't bother me, but the owner has a number of dogs that bark every time you come and go, so if you don't get on with dogs it might not be the best place for you.

Super place to stay. Lovely room with balcony. Great views across town and the valley. Friendly and welcoming staff. Close to town, but on a side road so quiet. 5 minutes walk from the weekly market. 10 minutes walk from the jeep stands. Note that the location on Google maps is wrong (at the time of writing). Use booking.com for location, or when you start walking up Tirpai Road, watch out for the hotel sign, it's only 100m or so.

Behaviour of the staff and readiness.

The lodge was too old and facilities were outdated. Not proper insulation in the room, hence the room was always too cold in the winter. Not clean properly.
