Sunshine Sanctuary Boutique Jungle Lodge

We really enjoyed staying at Sunshine Sanctuary. The view from our bedroom was beautiful, we could see the ocean and the canopy of the forest. Saw more lightning from that window in one week than in my entire life. What was really special about the location was the access to the local waterfall trail. We could get to the 2nd and 3rd waterfall in 5 minutes, and sometimes have the whole pool to ourselves! On the last day at the waterfall we saw two Blue Morpho Butterflies! Since we went in the low season, we had the community kitchen, dining area, pool, and yoga deck basically all to ourselves, so it felt very luxurious. And when there were guests, they were fun to talk to. The staff was nice and friendly, and the breakfast was different tasty and different every day. You'll definitely want a car to get here, as it's remote and up a super steep hill. However, the Imago Brewery is on the same driveway as the hotel, and is well worth a visit, they have good food and a butterfly sanctuary.

The room itself is pretty basic in terms of decorations and design, and the desk for working inside was too small. There were lots of bugs inside the room since there are bright lights outside of the door. But there are bugs everywhere in Montezuma, it comes with the jungle! Since we were there during a heat wave, there was one hot day when the AC could barely keep up with making the room cool, but the pool and the waterfall easily made up for that. Being up high with the view was amazing, but since you're on a hill you hear the sound of ATVs and trucks struggling up the mountain at all times of the day. Again, comes with the good views!

What an amazing place! From the moment we arrived we were in awe! It sits o n top of Montezuma in the middle of nature, with its own hanging bridge and entrance to the waterfalls! We stayed in the two bedroom apartment with living room and kitchen, with amazing views of the mountains and the ocean. The house was also beautifully designed. When we arrived we went directly to the waterfall and since it was the end of the day we had the big waterfall all to ourselves which felt like a present. The next day we walked all the way to playa Grande which is a 30 min walk from Montezuma but totally worth it. The walk itself takes you over beaches and little trails and once at the beach we were almost alone! It was also a safe beach to swim, or at least that day. Breakfast at the house was good and the staff very kind and helpful. We also had our laundry done which was ready in a few hours.

La Ubicación, el puente colgante y que la calle inclinada de entrada está asfaltada, ya que cuando ingresamos estaba lloviendo y esa era nuestra mayor preocupación por los comentarios que vimos antes. Así que vengan sin temor, ya que se puede ingresar mucho más fácilmente. Desayuno muy rico y variado, la vista es espectacular y el puente colgante de lujo. No acto para personas que se quejan por todo, ya que es un estado natural y es normal ver animalitos o insectos. No lo voy a poner abajo, ya que no es algo relevante, pero lo único que les recomiendo es poner un manteado a la piscina, para que al caer las hojas no se piense que está sucia o no se le da mantenimiento. Se que la piscina no estaba sucia, pero para que no le caigan cosas que le den esa apariencia. Muchas gracias por el excelente trato y servicio, volveremos.
