We stayed in Unit 2, which was very comfortable for our needs. We liked that it had two bedrooms as well as two toilets — one separate toilet and another in the main bathroom — which made it very convenient. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything needed for self-catering. Although the view from the main bedroom was partly blocked by the house in front, we really loved the beautiful view from the upstairs kitchen and living area. The second bedroom still also had a lovely view over the dam. There was also a gas BBQ on the outside deck next to the living/kitchen area, although we did not get the chance to use it during our stay. One personal touch we would have loved to see is artwork that reflects the history and beauty of Gariep Dam itself, rather than the random art currently hanging in the living room and bedrooms — for example printed canvas photos of the dam during its construction or scenic photographs of the dam and surrounding area. We feel this would enhance the overall Gariep Dam atmosphere in the apartment and create a more unique experience for guests.

Overall we had a pleasant stay at View Lodge and enjoyed the accommodation. There are however a few small things that could improve guests’ experience even more. What we did not like: There is no place to hang towels. There were no hooks or towel rails in the room, bathroom, or even the corridor, which made it difficult to dry or keep towels neatly. The WiFi worked only for a short while and then would not allow us to sign in again. A more detailed explanation about how the main gate lock works would have been helpful. At first we were quite stressed because the key would not turn and we thought we could not open the gate. Later we discovered that the lock pin first needs to be pushed down before turning the key. These are all small improvements that could make the stay even more comfortable for future guests.

I requested a breakfast at 8am but slept in. Asked at 8:30 if I could have it at 9am- they said Breakfast is done. Would have appreciated if they made a breakfast a bit later . There was only one other couple at premises so feel the extra effort would have been appreciated by me.
