I stayed at Sumba retreat for a week in October , I loved my stay, the staff are such beautiful people and every guest I met during my trip was a legend! The room is very clean and comfortable. The surrounding are extremely magical and beautiful ! I hope to come back again and stay longer.

Great place located between expensive resorts, hence the price I guess. Food was good although lack of vegetarian options. Both this facility and next door have the same owner so don’t hesitate to jump over there for food.

Loved Sumba and the hotel. Everything ran smoothly mostly because of one staff member, Alfrida. This is a fairly new place and she was continuously training the staff who were all lovely. She is truly a gem and made sure any minor issues were taken care of. Transfers to and from the airport went smoothly. I was amazed at how good the roads were in this part of this remote island. The beach was fabulous, as were the views. Food was delicious and they accommodated my vegetarian partner. The room was great, the outdoor bathroom so gorgeous and everything functional. We want to go back!

There were digital nomads taking over the restaurant/bar from some cheaper accommodation up the road. They were there day and night using the wifi and each only buying a cup of coffee for the duration. Talking loudly into their computers using headsets and to each other. Ruined the ambience a bit so would recommend the hotel change their Policy on this. Not enough to drop my 10 star score though.

Situated in an amazing location and the staff were very hospitable.

Amazing location! Right on the beach with the most perfect wave directly out the front. Rooms were cleaned everyday.
