The female.owmer is so unfriendly ,so unwelcoming .Very very cold.She couldn't even greet us! There's no TV,'s so we weren't allowed to play music either.Danie is friendly but he was just all over the place,patrolling unnecessarily & invading our space!!!

Stone Hounds Lodge is set in the most beautiful surroundings and has the potential to be, and the sad, nostalgic feeling of once having been, magnificent. It was once very obviously an amazing place; with every facility and amenity one could wish for. Regrettably now, while being comfortable enough, everything has the air of being a bit frayed around the edges. The general use facilities, such as a bar, a pool table, a volleyball patch, are still there, but the bar has nothing on offer and does not serve, the pool table has 10 cues, only one of which has a tip, the volleyball net is non-existent. All of that would have been acceptable, as we all understand, I think, that businesses have struggled through the past few years. However, little things, like thicker bath-towels as opposed to tiny, skinny unmatched towels. More than half a tiny bottle of instant coffee and Cremora, and a choice of different sugars, and even possibly some teabags in the room. Some small effort at matching the décor in the room, rather than a random mix of whatever seemed to be available. The breakfast was enjoyable, but I would have preferred butter rather than margarine, and possibly some jam for my toast. Small things like this would have made a huge difference. We could not fault the welcome, the helpfulness and the friendliness of the hosts and staff. So much so, I feel somewhat uncomfortable not giving a rave review. I just know that we needed a break, and we wanted a certain degree of comfort, and dare I say, a hint of luxury? The place has the potential to offer just that. It simply needs some maintenance, some TLC and to be brought up to date, to meet current expectations.

Location was good and the owners were lovely

Property is in need of TLC. Towels were threadbare and fraying; we couldn't shower because the cold water tap was broken.
