Driftwood Lodge Beachfront, Cable Bay Stays, Cable Bay, Northland

Delightfully charming accommodation in a stunning location. We stayed here with our two daughters aged 8 and 5 years, who spent many happy hours collecting shells and playing in the little stream in front of the hotel. There's also a playground right next door, which our daughters loved. The location is also great for day trips to the wider Far North, like Cape Reinga and Matauri Bay. Already hoping to come back soon.

The location is amazing - right on the beach. Like being at a beach front resort without the buffet. Low water pressure fixed quickly. Kitchen facilites were good. We used the laundry which was $4 a load.

The first night we were there we noticed the water pressure was very low, wasnt until having a shower next morning that we realised how bad- shower was literally a dribble. However this was very quickly rectified when we text'd the manager/owner.

Lovely cozy cottage nearby the beach. Had all the facilities we needed.

Amazing location, a perfect place to relax.

We had stayed here before and never got to meet the staff but that was ok. We stayed in the cockel cottage it was comfortable but I think maybe some of the flooring may give way soon as it was soft in some places. Other than that really enjoyed our stay

No water, seemed to have a plumbing problem the whole stay, water was not even coming out of the taps most of the time, made it hard for four of us to have a shower, oven did not work, only on a grill function and had no oven trays which made for a difficult time when we wanted to make a pizza, beds were very uncomfortable and there is no couch in the room, just dining chairs, also our towels were only refreshed once I messaged and asked on the 3rd day, bit of a shame because I see on other reviews from last year, the same issues that haven't been resolved, feel like it had the most amazing view and location, just a few problems that took away from the experience

Location is superb. Beautiful beach, every unit has that lovely beach view, with nice decks/ patio seating. 5 min drive to local supermkt, service stn + hallelujah, a chargenet electric car charger. Units clean + welcoming..

We stayed in large Nautilus unit (#5) upstairs, in a big 2 day storm. The unit looked lovely at first glance. But bedrooms + kitchen cupbds smelt damp, + cockroaches appeared at night ! One Q bed was old + had sunken springs. Only power point in that room was inaccessible behind a large chest of drawers, so no bedside lighting + phone charging point. The single bed in lounge under high windows, had no curtains/ blinds to sufficiently darken that area, nor bedside light or power point. Bathroom sink was very slow draining. Ground coffee was in a jar and aged + damp. We told Rosemary about all this + we agreed that unusually wet weather this summer was somewhat to blame. She apologised + gave us a generous discount for our last (4th) night, in a smaller but much better upstairs unit ( #4 Huia).
