Ella Rock Glance

Owner is very kind, and his wife as well. They prepared a great breakfast for us to take away early morning.

But this was from far our worst experience in Sri Lanka. When you enter the room, the place has a strong strong musty smell. The moldy smell was so strong that it even woke us up at night. Probably due to Ella’s humidity but they should really do something about it. Our clothes were smelling for days after we left, and we only stayed 2 days. We found a few cockroaches in the bedroom, on the mosquito net (inside) and on the floor. We are flexible travelers but there is noway to feel good and clean in that room (downstairs bedroom). Far away from the city. Accessibility isn’t so good, our driver didn’t want to go down the road, neither would some tuktuk (who were asking for 1500 roupies to go to the hotel, minimum, and with additional charge to go down the road). Most expensive Chicken & Rice Curry we had in Sri Lanka (even if very good). And was served cold. It was very kind to prepare this dinner, but you really need to give the price upfront to avoid any disappointment. Good thing is, we did a lot of things in Ella to avoid staying in that room, as much as possible !

We had an amazing time in Ella Rock Glance! This place is located around 30 minutes from centre of Ella - you can reach it walking through railway. From the start of path on Ella Rock is around 10 minutes. Guesthouse is located in the jungle, with amazing view and cool feeling in the morning. We have a room upstairs, with cosy balcony. Room was enough for us, had a comfortable bed, couch, table and bathroom. Bathroom was simple as everywhere on Sri Lanka, but everything was very clean. Our host and his wife were very nice, polite and help us with everything. He could arrange a tuk-tuk driver for us. Breakfasts were excellent, with fresh fruits and good coffee. We regret that we couldnt spend there more time.

Property is very well maintained in a good location with a great view from the balcony of our room. Breakfast is very nice and the owner Sjith is an exceptional host who is very friendly and will go above and beyond to ensure you have a great time in Ella. Tuk Tuks can be organised with Sjith to centre of Ella or else you can walk down the train tracks for a nicer walk. Ella rock viewpoint about 1 hour walk from homestay.

The location is just outside Ella in a very quiet aria. The place has 2 guest's rooms and we reserved the two of them since we were 3 people. Both rooms have a beautiful large balcony facing the jungle where you can sit and enjoy the sound of the birds and the beautiful sights. The roo.s are nicely decorated with very comfortable beds and nice lighting. Adjit, the host is very friendly and helpful, and his wife cooks amazing breakfasts and dinners that you can it on the balcony.

The lower room had a serious problem of mold. It was so bad that it was hard to bear, and we felt it was also unsafe . Adjit promised he would take care of this problem once we'll leave, he showed us that he bought mold remover and some fresh paint .

The quiet and comfy ambience away from the hustle and bustle of the Ella town. The host was super helpful too.

We in initially booked for 4 nights but the place was so good we stayed for an extra 2. The accommodation is newly built in the last year or so and set amongst the trees and woods a couple of miles from Ella centre. The balcony is huge and has excellent views of the forest all around. We saw loads of wildlife from the balcony including giant squirrels, chipmunks and monkeys. We had our tuktuk, but you can go by taxi for £2 each way or walk along the railway line like everyone else does. We did this several times and really enjoyed it. It is ideally placed near the trailhead for Ella Rock. At night it is very peaceful and quiet. The bed is a very good size and super comfy with additional blankets provided in case it gets chilly, as it sometimes does in the Central Highlands. The bathroom was also a good size and the solar water was really hot (a rare treat in Sri Lanka). The host and his wife were super friendly and the Sri Lankan breakfast was different each day. Ella itself is vibrant and busy and we could honestly have stayed another few days. Highly recommended.

A very new and comfortable homestay with a tasty breakfast and a lovely view into the mountains. Our host was very helpful and prepared us breakfast to go even it was very early as we needed to catch our train on time. A lot of nice hiking tours with the amazing view in this area! Some small restaurants are nearby.

The property was comfortable, clean, and situated in a private and quiet area. It offered excellent value for money, and the host was extremely sweet and helpful. Highly recommend!

I was extremely satisfied with my stay at this hotel! The owner was very dedicated and always available, which greatly contributed to our excellent experience. The breakfasts were outstanding, freshly prepared every day and full of flavors. The hotel is beautiful, with a stunning view of the jungle, creating a unique and peaceful atmosphere. Everything was very well-organized and clean. The owner took care of every detail and our comfort, which is why I will definitely return when I visit this wonderful destination again. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant and relaxing stay!
