Lakeside Gem with Hot Tub

Lovely location - very peaceful. Spacious and facilities were good. Lovely restaurant onsite- fabulous Sunday lunch. Hot tub nice to reach in for our girls weekend.

Main bedroom bed a bit uncomfortable- could feel springs in mattress so maybe a new mattress is required. But other then hey perfect stay

Everything was perfect! It was a homely lodge, spacious and nipping clean. Very welcoming too. Perfectly located.

The stay wasn’t long enough. We enjoyed it that much.

The lodge was beautiful and on a great location within the park . Had an Xbox too which was great for the kids

The mattress in the main bedroom needs to be replaced as it’s quite bumpy with the springs

Location beside lake really peaceful and quiet. Beautiful lodge with many basic needs catered for. Near to two small villages and a handy drive to York. We were late in arriving and rang ahead, helpfully they were able to leave the key in a little key box on outside of the lodge. I did have to ring 3 or 4 times though before I got an email confirming they would do that and provide the PIN before the office closed around 17.00 hrs. Parking great, just beside your lodge, no extra charge.

Following this review I have now been told they are keeping my £200 deposit! Not sure why yet as we left the place undamaged. Still waiting on details. Two chairs very unstable, and couldnt be used even though there were 5 of us. Hot tub was nice until we saw globs of someone elses hair in the water. Bed uncomfortable, single beds very narrow. Shower head in large shower dirty, and hose in second one dirty. Some shower heads had large globs of black dirt coming out when used. No information on whether we were expected to wash sheets and towels upon departure, just told to leave it as found. No hot water on two mornings, called maintenance man who arrived to confirm there was hot water [ well it did have 7 hrs to heat up!]. He appeared to have a pissed off attitude, didn't say much and my son who was there on his own was left feeling guilty. I noticed that the guest book left for reviews had pages torn out, presumably these were less favourable reviews. Important to note no Wi-Fi after 12.00 midnight on night before departure. Our own Internet signal from Vodafone was non existent in the immediate area, so we were relying on the lodge Wi-Fi. Luckily we had already planned our return journey, but needed it for banking and other vitals like booking events the next day. We couldnt ring from inside the lodge but got signal outside. Thought the shut off Wi-Fi was a bit mean considering we paid over £800 for 4 nights. We asked also if we could have just a little extra time to get out the next day as we have 3 disabled sons, and it takes a lot to get them ready. There was no discretion on an extra charge of £15, which again I thought was mean in the circumstances.

View was lovely, lodge was incredible

Not alot for kids around the area unless you go into york. Beds were a little uncomfortable

Absolutely stunning had a wonderful relaxing 4 days .

storage space

The vacuum, a cupboard door and parasol were broken. They didn’t have kitchen scissors or a jug which would’ve been handy when cooking. Also only had two plastic cups for using when in hot tub even though 6 of us staying. We like to follow the rules and keep a place clean but was tricky when the vacuum pipe was broken and no cleaning products/ cloths.
