- Lage direkt im Wald. Es erwartet einen eine zweckmäßige Forscherstation und keine Luxus-Lodge! Strom und somit auch WLAN sind da, wenn der Generator läuft. Der soll aber die göttliche Ruhe nicht zerstören, daher läuft er nur bei Bedarf - meistens am Abend beim Vorbereiten des Abendessens. Gemeinsames Abendessen mit anderen Gästen und der Eigentümerin fördert kurzweilige Kommunikation und interessante Kontakte. Es wird auf Alergien und Unverträglichkeit geachtet - und dass alle Gäste sich wohlfühlen. Touren durch den Wald sind eigenständig möglich; Nachttour biete die Eigentümerin an.

Verspreide bungalows met een gemeenschappelijke lounge en keuken, midden in primair regenwoud. Goed om tot rust te komen. Mooie omgeving. Alan was een goede host en een goede kok.

Om er te geraken moet je 6 keer een rivier oversteken. Onze Toyota Rav4 was hier niet voor geschikt. Je hebt echt een zware terreinwagen nodig met verhoogde chassis. Het is niet zozeer de rivierdoorsteek die moeilijk is, maar wel de steile oevers. We beschadigden onze wagens. Op de derde dag na een felle regenbui was de rivier niet meer te passeren en moesten we te voet doorwaden naar ons verblijf. Het gebrek aan zonnepanelen en batterijcapaciteit zorgde ervoor dat de koelkast niet werkte. Er waren wel koelboxen voorzien maar zonder ijs werken deze niet! Ons eten geraakte bedorven. We hebben natuurlijk bewust gekozen voor een verblijf ver van de bewoonde wereld, maar dan is een werkende koelkast zeker een must! Verder ook geen Wifi 's avonds wegens elektriciteitstekort. Ook geen warm water! Geen verlichting in de bungalows. Echt wel basic.

El entorno en el que está ubicado, en pleno bosque nos enamoró. El bungalow tenía unas vistas impresionantes. La tranquilidad que se respiraba. Y gracias a Alan que nos hizo unas comidas super sabrosas , y nos trasmitió un montón de conocimientos y estuvo siempre super atento. Un lugar estupendo para desconectar y disfrutar de la naturaleza.

Staying here was one of our highlights in Costa Rica. This is quite remote place in the middle of the forest so you can't expect too many amenities but that's part of the experience. To get here you have to cross the river multiple times, preferably by 4x4 taxi. We've seen tucans, falcons, tamandua and other animals. Alan who welcomed us here is a great guide and knows everything about jungle. He also prepared delicious meals for us. We even had a chance to meet Rebeca who is the owner of the station and biologist. She explained us a lot about her research projects, wildlife and local environment. This place is great for the nature lovers.

Eveerything was perfect.

Location is great for a nature experience. Very quite, and on the edge of Drakes Bay village. Wonderfuly large terrace facing the jungle. Lots of animal sightings, with nice wooden chairs to eat from. The apartment is a good size. The bedroom fan was very comfortable. Richard was exceptionally friendly , helpful, proactive and gave time in the planning, Booking and information aspects. Kendal was also helpful during our stay with providing information Richard gave us a small discount for multiple nights booking. Kind.

Apartment style is outdated /old germanic. Not too much of an issue but a consideration. Kitchen utensils are severly lacking, for the money we paid it was not good. The pans/pots look homemade and we both burnt our hands on the handles. Big downside. Only 1x fan in whole apartment isnt ideal. We had 1 glass in the cupboard that was covered in wax. Disgusting as it was 1 of the 2 drinking glasses. The biggest issue was when Kendal walked into our apartment before we had checked out and before the advertised check out time. It appears they didnt trust guests. Whilst I was at the car with our baby and my partner was in the apartment bathroom, he let himself in to retreive the borrowed blender. He also had a quick russle through the bedroom. I appreciate checking the apartment state after guests but this should never be done whilst we are still paying and using the property. We also feel a proper introduction was due at the check in stage for we didnt know who kendal was as both men were standing in our apartment whilst richard gave us the checkin info.

We were in Costa Rica for three weeks and this was our favorite spot by far! Rebecca and her team are lovely, very attentive. The local cook, Tati, was just the sweetest and she prepared every meal with such care. I am intolerant to gluten and she was able to come up with lovely recipes to accommodate my needs. But the best part is the reserve itself. It is very remote (Bahia Drake is itself quite remote, and the reserve is about 20 minutes away from town by car). The kind of place you go to to completely disconnect from the outisde world, to reconnect with nature and with yourself. Aside from the beautiful proprety where you can chill in hamacs and swim in the river, there is a beautiful trail that leads to a waterfall and swimming hole. That is where we spent our afternoons, completely alone because no tourists venture there apart from Rebecca's guests. Rebecca is a biologist and she is very knowledgeable of the local animals, insects and plants. She cares deeply about her reserve and about wildlife preservation in Costa Rica. We had a couple of tours planned during our 5 night stay and I wished we hadn't because all I wanted to do was stay at Tamandua!! There are 7 rivers to cross to get there. We had rented a small 4X4 and had no problem getting through. I was quite worried about the river crossings and Rebecca was kind enough to meet us in town to guide us through.

The internet is not very reliable, but why would you want to use it when you are in such a place? Time to disconnect!

I liked everything about my stay!! I highly recommend to choose this eco lodge for the amazing service that is provided! We were treated like friends and got the best recommendations! For a nature lover Drake Bay is paradise!!

It was great place to see nature without too many people. Hosts were really nice, helpful and talkative. They prepared great breakfast 😋 Around their place you can find great beaches and jungle. I can recommend night trip to the rainforest.
