Please note that Welgevonden airstrip is now serviced by a flight three times a week, starting 1 Dec 2025.Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation. Payment before arrival by bank transfer is required. The property will contact you after you book to provide instructions. A deposit may be required at the property.

"A beautiful few days at Makweti"

What an incredible few days we had at Makweti. Beautiful property and an intimate setting. The team at Makweti were great and made us feel so welcome, and the food was delicious. A big thanks to Neil for taking us on the road, it was pleasure spending the time with you. We would definitely recommend a visit to Makweti.

The staff, the food and rooms were great

Having your own pool was great but it could have done with being cleaned out once a day from all the leaves to make it more appealing to use besides just dipping your feet in.

Everything. We had the most amazing time at Makweti - if you’re considering going, go! Everything was incredible, the rooms and shared areas were beautiful, the staff were amazing and the food was delicious. There’s no fence around the lodge so you are literally in amongst the wild - while we were there we had zebras on the camp, and a giraffe very close by. There are only 5 lodges, so there are very few people which makes it even more special. Safaris - wow wow wow - we were very fortunate with the animals and interactions we saw. Our guide Neil would say it was all luck, which in part it is, however he was absolutely pivotal in enabling us to see the things we saw. Importantly for me, this was always with the priority being the animals; Neil has the utmost respect for them and their space. He’s so passionate about the reserve and incredibly knowledgable about it, the animals, plants and birds - we learnt a lot! Our stay at Makweti was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had, and left feeling so incredibly grateful for our experience. We’d go back in a heartbeat. Thank you to Jessica, Joseph, Tatum, Roelof, all the staff and of course Neil - Chloe and Carlos

"Exceptional"

Extraordinary lodge, very tastefully furnished, the private terrace invites you to relax and watch animals. Joseph carried out the game drives very competently and with a lot of background knowledge. The kitchen is perfect and we highly recommend the lodge.

shame we didn't book longer
