La Chakana Lodge

Lovely setting, just outside of town but an easy walk in. Much nicer location & view than the hotels in the centre. Friendly & helpful owners. Dinner was great.

The lodge was peaceful and tranquil with great views from the window. The host was helpful, friendly and provided a good breakfast to my schedule in the morning. I would definitely stay again!

Very friendly. The lodge is run by a small family. We had the feeling that they put in alot of passion. The improssion we got was very professional, keeping in mind that Putre is at 3200 meters of altitude. They tried their best to talk to us, even though our spanish was realy poor. The food was realy good! We enjoyed the stay even though we had a cold shower, we are not sure if we should have done something differently to get warm water....we can highly recommend it.

Very peaceful and tranquil place at the foothills of Lauca NP, offers a great view and is located just outside of Putre. The hosts are super friendly and cook a great meal for you, so there is no need to get into the village at all. Rooms are very clean and there are plenty of warm blankets.

Juan, his wife and staff are very friendly and helpful hosts. The location is wonderful. The bungalows are very nicely located and well furnished. The breakfast is delicious and with love prepared. It is very nice that the common room was open until 22.00pm and that free coffee and tea was available the whole day. Juan arranged a very nice excusion with a friendly and considerate guide to Salar de Surire.

Nothing really. It was all I needed and expected.

The location is beautiful, the price is right, and the kindness and service we received from our host, Jesusa, put this location over the top. Breakfast was delicious and hearty, and the dinners came out great too. We used one of our days in Putre to get over the soroche (altitude sickness) and the food and views gave us something to enjoy while feeling less than great.

Putre is a long distance from Arica. We chose to rent a car and drive. The combination of being rusty at manual transmission, heavy traffic in Arica, and the winding mountain roads made this more difficult than expected. Consider taking a bus or other transport if you aren't comfortable with driving stick or high roads with big drops.
