Pepper Hills Cottages

The owner was very friendly and kind. So much so that I wasn’t going to leave a bad review because I don’t want to lose him business but thinking about it’s unfair to people booking to stay here. If there was an honest review then we wouldn’t have wasted time and money getting here. We still paid for one nights stay in somewhere we really didn’t feel comfortable sleeping in. The next morning we moved to another place which was the same price and very clean.

Maybe we were unlucky and just stayed in one of the bad, more run down cottages but it did not look at all like the photos, inside or outside. The place was incredibly dirty, lights didn’t work and lampshades broken. In the night I went to use the bathroom and heard a noise, turned on the light and there was a large rat looking back at me. Our bed sheets were stained and towels dirty. It smelt very strongly of insect repellent on arrival. Within an hour of us being there hundreds of ants swarmed in, all over the toilet and into the bedroom. Including some crawling on us in bed. The ceiling in the bathroom was filled with them and there was a huge hole in the corner where the rat was coming in and out. We could hear what sounded like rats in the ceiling. No WiFi which is fine for us but don’t advertise there is. We arrived late in the evening so slept (barely) but left first thing in the morning and asked for our money back which the owner did so with no problem. He was very sorry but stated he didn’t know what he could do about the insects and animals getting in. I can understand wildlife will always be there and can’t be helped sometimes but this was unacceptable. Some basic adjustments would make a big difference for example not leaving a huge hole in the bathroom ceiling. Also just standard cleaning and a new light bulb might help. I hope they can improve because they seemed like a lovely couple.

Really nice place and calm vibes, if you likes more nature this is awesome. There is a small waterfall near by too.

Location is great specially if you're looking for a peaceful and quite place. Breakfast was delicious and the owners were very friendly

The rooms could have been cleaner and they lacked basic facilities. Owners are still building this place up and I hope they'll improve

For an entomophobic person this place is not suitable at all. The showers are broken. It feels like having a shower in the forest. There was no where wifi. As a Sri Lankan for me it was ok. But for my friend, it was a nightmare seeing all the insects roaming around. Ants, spiders, cobwebs all over and the wash room was not clean at all. It is such a nice place and sad that the place was not maintained properly.
