The peace and simplicity of the place. The homemade food the owner prepared for us.

A real welcome from two lovely people who have made their lives here and have a genuine interest in their guests. Super friendly and inviting you to get a glimpse into the life they've created for themselves and all that goes with it. We were treated to a delicious meal with our hosts and their other guests and free flowing conversation about how this oasis came to be. Off the beaten track and an unexpected joy. I can only send them my very best wishes for the future and will remember our brief time there as very special. So glad we stopped off here on our way to the unmissable Cango Caves.

If you are someone who is looking for gold taps, polished floor tiles and a bloke in a tie delivering room service, then you are probably too uninteresting to stay here.

Amber Lagoon will see me again! For those that want something different, away from the lights of a city, this is it. Susanna makes you feel at home and everything is shared in the communal area. The pool is a big plus. Amber is the place you go to read, relax and swim. Amber is ideal for people who like to camp or do not mind sharing the communal areas.

This is a rustic rambling place that has been lovingly hand-built by the owner. Set in one of the hottest places in the country, it was extraordinary to find a large swimming pool where we could float under the stars.

Room was incredibly hot - hard to sleep, even with a fan.

Amber Lagoon is a very special place in the middle of the Klein Karoo, up on a hill. Susanna crafted every detail of it over the past 20 years. For people who love nature and appreciate simple life in contact with it. Amazing opportunity to discover the plants, rocks, beautiful sunsets and atmosphere of the Karoo!
