Vertikal lodge

We had a really great time there. Booked the suite with the jacuzzi. Amazing view and very comfy beds! Simple, but exactly what we were looking for to relax and disconnect. Taxi fare to reach the place is 20 Soles - no matter how many people, if 1 or 3, it is always 20 Soles for one way. Zipline was amazing: 4 lines and a bridge to cross for 70 Soles! Really great experience. Totally recommended! You have to visit the hot springs there, really nice experience and very relaxing. Go there from 6 to 8pm, when it is getting colder outside, so u can enjoy it more! Take a taxi there. The hotel has a contact, who is really nice and brought us also to hydroelectrica for a very good price! Host speaks really good English!

Breakfast was included, it was good, except the bread could have been better, or at least toasted. Free Wifi didn't work in our room, but we had enough data on our phone, so didn't care. Personally a place to hang up our clothes would have been practical!

Great location and comfortable bed

If you search a luxury experience this is not the place for you. The minibar was empty and there was no wine/champagne like described in the listing. There were no products for the jacuzzi or shower like conditioner or a body wash, only a poor shampoo. The jacuzzi was really dirty and had a smell of a sewage, it became dirty when you turned on the jets it started to spit small black dirt out of it. There was no place to store any clothes or bags (only a table in the middle of the room), even a proper trash can wasn’t there. In the night the bathroom and under the bed was full with insects (incl. cockroaches). The WiFi was really slow. We asked through booking.com if we could eat and they said till 8:00 pm when we arrived there wasn’t any. The price you pay for this (almost €80) is to high especially in Peru. The only positive thing from this place is the view otherwise it’s not worth it.

Excellent view, unique grounds with coffee farm and zip lines. The rooms were exquisitely decorated.

The room we were in in unfinished. No towel rack, evidence of leaking from unit above, shower leaks, grounds had construction supplies. Most likely this is all due to the recent construction and will be improved and fixed over time.

Fantastic views and location from the hotel room. Clean and comfortable room. Good internet WiFi.

No kitchen amenities except fridge.

If you are driving, be aware that in 2022 the road between Santa Maria and Santa Teresa is only open for limited periods (when we used it, just 30 minutes every three hours during the hours of daylight. No access between 6pm and 6am). Also be aware that Google Maps is bonkers and the road southwards is a dead end. Google would have had us driving the Salkantay Trail hiking route. The view from the spa bath is truly awesome, and the long soak was luxurious after walking to and from Machu Picchu We ate in both nights and the dinners were both good and very welcomed

Comms with Paolo were very good (though the road closure info perhaps needed to be a bit earlier - we had to adjust plans to get there on time). Comms between Paolo and the rest of the team were less great so that the 'no eggs' message didn't get through - making for meagre breakfasts on our two days. We'd have preferred not to tramp mud into the room - perhaps doormats or some such?
