Plato Lodge

The views are out of this world. The dinner was good. The steak was juicy and the portions were big. Meat lovers would have definitely felt at home.

It's about 30km of traveling on dirt road to get to the lodge. It's very hot there. The temperature was 40 degrees Celsius and the fan did no justice to the room. An aircon would work better. The room was not cleaned properly. It was dirty under the bed when we checked for anything that could be out there. We relocated and slept in the car after being bitten by a baby scorpion that fell from the thatch roof onto the bed. As we were trying to get rid of the scorpion from the bed, we found a big spider in between the sheets. Perhaps an ideal place for the lover of outdoors! When I walked into the bathroom to use the toilet I found something like a frog or lizard in the bucket. I frantically closed the lid and flushed the toilet. Above the cistern were two beautiful yet creepy well-fed looking lizards. The shower has two sets of taps for his and hers but some of them were not working well. There was no cold water coming out of the taps.

Location is lovely, bed comfortable, the hostess was friendly and warm, in all it would have been a lovely 'farm stay' ... the problem is that it charges mid-range lodge rates, and the experience is not lodge quality.

The units are small and close together - fine if there are only one or two guests, but would feel very crowded if full. Room furniture is hard and uncomfortable. Except for one dinner, the food was pedestrian and unimaginitive with no choice - but very expensive.

Beautiful setting. The view from the room was stunning. We had dinner there and it was absolutely outstanding. We could not do the breakfast as we need to leave early. The owner packed us some delicious sandwiches for the road.

It was quite far from Augrabies. We did not realised when we did the booking. Had travel on dirt road for more than an hour to get there from Augrabies. There was not enough warm water for 2 of us to shower. There were no glasses in the room.

Good accommodation very far from people and places. Nice food prepared by owner

excellent-home cooked supper and breakfast by owner! maybe some filter coffee? great solitude and wide open views--each chalet is private!

We loved staying here - wonderful friendly hosts - good homecooked food - comfortable accommodation - great place to just relax unwind and enjoy the peace and quiet and the views.
