The Thatched Barn

What an incredible location. I was looking for a quiet, peaceful retreat, away from busy roads and hustle and bustle. This was perfect, better than I had hoped for. The grounds, stables, dovecoat and main house, which has a moat around it, are stunning. So much so that I thought I must be trespassing when I drove up to the property. The wildlife and nature is fantastic with so many birds. The barn is very large with an open plan fully furnished kitchen, living room and bathroom.

Sadly, the thatched roof is covered by tarps. I pressume because it's leaky and needs new thatch; however, the facilities, beautiful grounds and lower price make up for this and I hope to go back.

Depressing staying in that property

We enjoyed the most fabulous weekend at the barn. The surroundings were just outstanding and it was lovely to be greeted by one of their roaming cats. The barn was tidy and very spacious. Everything we needed was supplied and more. The hosts were more than helpful and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be booking again as we loved our mornings by the moat and watching the fabulous wildlife around. 5 Stars 🌟 Steve & Jen

Location was good, the barn was fantastic.

Spacious, well appointed and with everything I needed (and nothing I didn’t). Easy to find and nice and quiet. Felt very homely. Comfy bed and great shower and well lit bathroom. I like apartments like this as I can decide what I want to eat and when and is vastly cheaper than eating out.

TV reception is a bit ropey and I did spot a few cobwebs here and there. I know how easy it is for these things to be missed but slightly disappointing. It was clean, however.

Charming barn with character, good facilities, use of crockery, utilities such as dishwasher, washing machine, fridge and freezer in the kitchen. Spacious living environment with good, comfortable seating. Some left over soaps and washing up cloths to use which was handy. Comfortable bed, firm but nice with a thick, heavy duvet (winter season). Quiet and peaceful location off the track, great privacy.

Nothing to not like! however a couple of suggestions for subtle improvements; - instructions to use TV / room heaters laid out on guest arrival - TV in bedroom has sound but no picture (could have been our user error though?) - butter portions/small loaf of bread and some milk might be nice for guests to arrive to, instead of having to bring essentials/go to the nearest shop on arrival - bath fills up with water when showering - the freezer had food in it? - bags in small bins would be useful in bathroom/bedroom - small touches such as local information - nearest pubs - bed headboard is not attached to the bed. - small mirror in the bedroom - could do with a nice big one to the right of the window

Had all the facilities needed. Lovely hot water for showers and rooms well heated for the cold December days and nights. The host Laura was fantastic throughout our stay.

Lovely comfortable property and very quiet. Parking no problem right at the door. Private and wonderful surroundings.

Well equipped, every thing we needed, set in beautiful grounds, fantastic location with a fantastic host who was really accommodating. We had a lovely roast dinner in the bull and butcher pub in Turville.
