The Zarafa

The Zarafa was amazing and the highlight of our trip to South Africa. We have traveled all over the world and The Zafara is right there as our favorite place we have ever stayed at. From our own private pool overlooking the mountains, to the beauty all around our extremely large private compound, we couldn't believe the slice of paradise we had found. Many thanks to Karabo who was amazing. He spoiled us like we've never been spoiled before. I wish we could have stayed longer, but we now have a great reason to come back to this fabulous spot. Thank you again for a stay that we will always remember.

That are stay was to short!!

What a beautiful property, peaceful atmosphere, spacious rooms with comfortable beds, terrific host and wonderful staff. We loved the private pool, bush scenery and the added security of a gated community. The food was amazing and there was plenty of it.

Wifi did not connect consistently

By far the best resort ever! This adults only resort is unmatched by the big chain resorts in quality of service, location, hospitality, and facilities. You get the privacy you are promised, and for my wife and I that is invaluable. There is no loud music from neighbors, no sounds of cars from the street, no children running around, and no noise from adjacent rooms. You hear birds, nature, and at times complete silence. This is a wonderful place to relax and unwind from city life. You get the privacy you are promised, and if you ever need assistance they are a phone call away. The staff are very kind, respectful, and very helpful; fulfilling their duties with the utmost professionalism. They assist you with your luggage, they set up and serve you breakfast, they assist you with dinner; and at all times with a smile on their face. Please be kind to them as you can be assured they will always be kind to you. The villas are far from each other with trees all around. Each villa has a PRIVATE pool with an amazing view. They offer a hardwired adapter for different style plugs (US, Australian, European, South African) The shower has excellent water pressure, and the bathroom offers a level of comfort you would find in an upscale resort. You simply have to experience it yourself! I highly recommend booking with the dinner option. These are no ordinary hot meals you get from a hot table at a resort. These are gourmet meals made to order. The presentation and flavors are amazing! Cooking temperatures are spot on! These chefs are trained in different cuisines, and the menus are different every day of the week, each one themed on a region from around the world. Believe me, spend a little more for dinner and you will NOT be disappointed. Breakfast is served in your villa so you can enjoy the amazing morning views. For a small fee you can also enjoy dinner in your villa. The restaurant is very private and intimate with a good selection of drinks and excellent South African wines.

There is a not a single bad thing about this resort.

Everything was fabulous! The pool was absolutely gorgeous and Barry, Kambo and the team looked after us very well, we felt like VIP’s!! The food was amazing, the highlight of our 2 night stay being the 5 course meal which was absolutely gorgeous!!

Barrie and his team delivered world class service in a personal, thoughtful way. This sense of care and kindness permeated every aspect of our stay in this unique and outrageously beautiful setting. (And try the ostrich steak if it's on the Zarafa's imaginative, delicious menu—a combination of local offerings and global flavors: 10 out of 10 would recommend!
