Nice location facing coffee estate and close to Madikere town centre

Staff Dhanu,Kushal and Prabhu were always willing to help with any request.Since the restaurant was closed when we arrived Kushal bought us dinner from Madikeri city. The room is spacious,clean and well maintained. The restaurant provides good food at a reasonable rate.

The view from the roadside facing room does not have a hill view which is a bit disappointing. Sometimes it gets quite hot and AC would help. TV has only free channels. Since the homestay is about 7 kms from the city with no shops restaurants etc around the homestay restaurant cannot remain closed. Swiggy and Zomato do not accept orders for the area

Short answer: Avoid this property! Especially if you are a solo female and/or international traveler. Long answer: Let’s start with the owner hounding me to pay in advance, even though booking.com said pay at property and I was an international traveler and would only be able to pay by cash on site. Second was asking multiple times my ETA, and me giving updates on my journey to the location, to arrive to a huge sign saying hotel is closed for a three week period and my stay was in the middle of this “closure”. I saw someone inside and asked about this and they said -“oh it’s only the resistance that is closed”. I then asked about my room and they were confused and had to call the owner to find my booking and then had to prepare the room, even though I gave multiple updates on my ETA. The staff gave me weird creepy vibes, but I stuck with it and would spend the night (should have listened to my gut and walked away immediately). You could hear everything in my room and at some point someone pounded on my window during the night (after that every sound from the rest of the property kept me jumpy). I honesty was unable to fall asleep and I bailed on staying a second night because I was so uncomfortable. (I should note that I have stayed in hundreds of hotels, hostels, camps, etc. in 25+ countries over 5 continents and this is only the second time I have bailed on my accommodation because of how bad it was). The owner also refused to refund my second night that I did not stay. At that point I did not care I just wanted to get as far away from there as possible. Please do not stay here.

Grand Misty heaven was quite an experience. Clean, calm and very comfortable. The best part was, me and my brother we check-in way earlier than the usual timing it was early in the morning 3:30 am, they gave us a rest room attached washroom where we halt on and rest for some hours. It was a wonderful homestay after long journey and travels such a gestures means alot. The staff were helpful and easily approachable they help l, suggest with our ticketing and cab bookings for different locations as requested. Good people, humbled and always ready to help. Then I realised why, there were so much of homestays in Coorg. Hospitality, management and services were truly rooted in the culture of the people there. Long live kodagu, #COORG.
