Very nice place, but the food was way too expensive.

Perfect, chill location midway between Ella and the South Coast. Really nice staff, tasty breakfast and comfortable room. Amazing stay in the forest.

Beautiful location, great food and very friendly staff

Very good and clean room! The son of the owner (25) is amazing and played games with us in the evening. We went to the waterfall the day after and he joined us there which was great fun! Helpful people, good breakfast and dinner. Amazing green area.

IT was really lovely place to stay in. Located close to the National parks, surrounded by nature. The room was very spacious and clean and was well equiped. The Staff was really nice and helpful. Highly recommend!

The rooms are airy and spacious. Very clean and super comfortable. The location is also nice with lush greenery, river and quiet surroundings. Mark the manager makes lovely breakfast and even dinner upon request. Good value for money.

A kettle in the room would be useful so you can make your own tea/coffee rather than asking staff to make one for you.

We stayed at River Cottage as a stopover between 2 destinations and it was one of the best nights of our stay. Chathura and his family made us feel at home, the food was lovely, it was a great and authentic experience

River Cottage in Wellawaya is a perfect rest stop, no matter your direction. Nestled beside a tranquil river, it offers a serene environment and a strong connection to nature. We stayed in three reasonably priced deluxe rooms, which were spacious, air-conditioned, and immaculately clean. The beds had mosquito netting, and the bathrooms were above standard—spacious, clean, and with good water flow, The food was delicious. Had rotti for breakfast and string hoppers for dinner. They were very reasonably priced. The host family was incredibly warm and attentive, ensuring every need was met. The river, about 3–4 feet deep, looked perfect for a swim, but we couldn’t indulge due to time constraints—something we’ll definitely try next time!
