The scenery is outstanding and gorgeous rock pools to dip into along the valley walk. Beautiful views from both self catering units with the main unit offering stunning views. Short scenic walks on the property. Well maintained grassed picnic and braai area near the deep rock swimming pool. Being Pet Friendly is fantastic! Well stocked fridge for liquid refreshment, meals on offer, lovely entertainment area. The krans and mountain walk can be challenging. If taking your dog, walk as far as you can along the valley - it is beautiful, very peaceful but be aware of not scrambling over the higher rocks when you reach those - probably 3 kms or so from where you'd cross over the river at the main lodge. A little dog fell 3m off those rocks when we were there - his owner was actually surprised that the dog was okay.

The shower in the main unit is 😲 The smaller unit shower was not much better. Inadequate kitchen utensils for self catering. The self catering units are overpriced. We travel extensively in South Africa and the units are R400 - R350 pppn units, definitely not R675 pppn for the main unit and R585 pppn for the smaller unit. We expect indigenous creatures in cabins, even flying cockroaches in Africa but not crawling cockroaches..... Quad biking and horse riding indicated on the website but neither a quad bike or horse in sight??

The only thing to like was the beautiful surroundings and waterfall. The rest is all a let down. Staff is non existent and the food is horrible. There is no restaurant as or service as one would expect with a lodge, take your own food.

The service is bad and non existent. Staff is nowhere to be found. The photo's when you book is misleading and you do not have much privacy. There is a suspicious smell in the rooms as if they try to hide some under smell. The place looks like it was something back in the day but maintenance and the will to give an acceptable level of service got lost along the way. One would expect that a Lodge has a restaurant and the property boast a board stating restaurant, but there is nothing and no staff. When asking to get some form of sustenance it feels like your bothering the one staff member that was there for 10 sec. The burger we did manage to get out of him turned out to be so hard you can brake teeth on it. And this was one of the more expensive options in the surrounding area.

The room felt a bit run down with some damaged things making it feel less clean. Slightly old fashioned decor and linens also made this stay feel less spectacular than the views and outside spaces make you feel.

We only stayed for one night and really enjoy it! We had a nice braai end chilled at night with friends! All good
