Uchimaru Hakuba

Chan was so kind and acted more like a tour guide than just a host. So knowledgeable and patient. He even knew all the great places to eat! More than happy to ferry us to and from the bus/train station. We could even walk to Echoland area from there. Great spot.

Everyone was so nice and helpful. Each morning they cooked us breakfast. I also needed a ride one day early before the bus ran and they were kind enough to drop us off. They also drove us and helped us fill out the forms for Yamato. Every day my room was cleaned and everything was spotless. After this review I'm going to email to check on availability for 2025! I can't wait to go back and stay here again. Also the bus stop is right across the street which makes it very easy going to and coming back from the mountains.

Very nice atmosphere

Absolutely delighted with my stay! Impeccable service, cozy rooms, and a prime location. The staff went above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. Will definitely be returning!

We stayed in the Hakuba region for 3 nights at Chan’s Uchimaru lodge. It was the perfect place to position ourselves for our ski trip! Chan picked us up (and waited for us) after we arrived in Hakuba by bus, the first sign of his excellent service throughout our stay. The warmth of the lodge matched Chan’s personality. Always available and happy to help. We were located within walking distance of a nearby ski rental shop (Spicy) where we rented from (they dropped our ski gear off and picked it up from Uchimaru). We mostly cabbed to and from restaurants mainly because we got lazy. However, we did make the 15-20 min walk to nearby onsens, which were a nice way to finish the day. The rooms had everything we needed and were much more spacious than the congested hotel rooms of Tokyo. Rooms were cleaned each day and there was a nice spread for breakfast each morning. Chan would patiently wait for each guest before cooking their fresh hot breakfast and there was a nice spread to start prior to a full day skiing. Chan was always very helpful when we were trying to figure out logistics depending on which part of the Hakuba region we were hoping to ski. He also helped us with recommendations for food and Onsen. All in all we will definitely be returning to Chan’s. There are plenty more slopes for us to try and we look forward to positioning ourselves at Uchimaru again.

Not open in the summer

The owner was very helpful and responsive did extra trips to help us. Excellent breakfast before skiing. I recommend this place good value for the price.
