Cabinas Palmer Makanda

Good localisation next to the main street of Cahuita. We had a small room without a window. So it was okay for one night, but I would prefer to take a bigger room with a window if you stay longer. The staff was friendly and helped us with every request.

Because of the localisation to the street it was pretty loud in the evening (we were there at saturday evening)

It started when we arrived: the staff was so kind and helpful. We felt welcome from the second we walked in. They are very respectful and keep everything clean throughout the day (saw them cleaning multiple times). The room surprised us positively with the size. To have a hammock and a private small outside area was a huge Plus. The kitchen had everything we needed and was kept clean by staff and guests. Fresh coffee and filtered water was available for free what saved quiet some money. Also visit the neighbour bar Ewa - also nice staff and great food. Just book your stay there because it is a great place :)

Unfortunately they have a neighbor bar called Dubai and it played music till midnight once. I guess that is not their fault but it effected the stay a bit

very noisy at night from the two bars next door, freezing cold shower, woken every morning by the staff when arrived for work my room right next to reception, staff outside of my window talking very loudly, the whole place needs redecorating very tired, i have stayed in a lot of hostels at this price point the last 4 months and this one is well below average.

Wonderful staff, very comfortable room, I loved my hammock, great location close to the park, very good coffee.

We stayed here one night in the twin room, which by coincidence was super ideal for us, as I was battling some food poisoning at the time and so having separate beds was great. The beds were comfortable enough and the pillows are a little thin, but the giant fan we could blast in our room really helped lull us to sleep and keep us cool. Very beautiful central common area to take coffee in the morning and EXCEPTIONALLY kind and helpful staff. Not a luxury resort by any stretch of the imagination, but a wonderful value-for-money, central, comfortable stay in the always wonderful town of Cahuita.

The room security felt a little worrisome as you only have a small latch from the inside or a tiny padlock on the outside to secure what is essentially a wooden screen door separating your room from the outside. Had we stayed here longer, I may not have felt super comfortable leaving my valuables around, but we didn’t stray far from the property. Perhaps they have locker though, we didn’t ask.

This is a very nice hostel in the middle of town, close to restaurants and the National Park. the staff is kind, attentive, and helpful with questions about transportation and what not. the bunks have privacy curtains. there are large lockers. free coffee all day. the reviews about hot showers are not correct. like most of Central America, the showers are cold, but that did not bother me. the rooms and bathrooms were cleaned daily. the kitchen has individual shelves for each persons food, and a marker to label your stuff in the fridge. the beds are firm but comfortable. there is a/c in the dorms, as well as a fan for each bed. I highly recommend!

my pillow was very flat, but didn’t bother me enough to ask for a new one. it would be nice if there were hammocks. there are only hammocks for the private rooms, and one in the front of the hostel for anyone to use.

Wifi didnt work in our room but was fine in the majn areas.
