"No bells and whistles, just wonderful accomodation and stay... perfect for a ski trip"

Everything was wonderful, rooms were nice, hosts were very accomodating and friendly, breakfast was excellent and authentic japanese.... and the hand made stained glass windows in the accomodation are very beautiful.

"Comfortable, enjoyed conversing with our fantastic hostess Yorika, and loved the in-house hot bath."

We did not eat there but Yoriko brought us fresh strawberries one day after skiing. The location was very near the Tsugaike Ski Resort but a bit away from the other resorts in Hakuba Valley. We had a car but the bus service appears to be excellent. The in-house onsen (natural hot bath) was amazing. The hostess, Yorkiko, was very sweet and accommodating.

It is an older house, but very clean and comfortable.

Its a typical japanese house or ryoukan. A polite old landlady is looking after the property and welcomed you. Since I arrived during off peak season (outside ski and hiking season in May), the property is less crowded and more relax. It is generally clean as typical japanese house. The landlady will ask you when to use bathroom so she can prepare the bath in advance and heat up the water (since its off peak season the heater will only be turned on occasionally and on-demand).

The location is quite far from train station. The convenience store is almost non-existent (the closest yamazaki store only open at 5pm and close at 8pm)

Be aware that this is no modern and luxurious hotel, but a nice, traditional ryokan. So don’t expect hotel facilities.
