Waterberg Game Lodge

L’établissement est magnifique, nous avons une superbe vue sur un lac avec des hippopotames. La literie est très confortable. Le dîner et le petit déjeuner étaient vraiment excellents et servis en grosse quantité. Et l’accueil de Salomie et Ockeut et Lebo, les gérants était parfait, ils sont très accueillants, très à l’écoute de nos demandes et nous ont emmené faire un safari le matin. Merci encore pour avoir rendu ce séjour aussi magique.

Absolutely amazing stay! Very peaceful and tranquil. The hosts were so welcoming. The touch of home cooked meals was amazing. Overall a great place to go if you want some relaxing downtime 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

What a lovely place!!! Peaceful, beautiful, clean. The hosts were excellent, the food was delicious, the game drive personalised and the massage was amazing. It was just the peaceful getaway I wanted for my birthday.

Ockert and Salomie are brilliant hosts. The welcome we received from them changed our view about the lodge instantly, as we had a few doubts and negativity about the booking (See negatives below). They are professional, friendly and warm-hearted people for which nothing is an effort. They listened patiently to our concerns/comments and input. (Issues that that I can't list all of them below, as there is a limit to the number of letters I can type). Lebo and Rachel were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the game drives and nature. The rooms are nice and clean with a beautiful view of the dam and mountains. The food was amazing, and the portions were more than enough. The lodge has enormous potential to become another 5 star lodge in South Africa. It is a peaceful and relaxing getaway.

My initial positive feeling about the lodge at time of booking, changed when we were asked closer to arrival, if we are still planning to stay at the lodge, as we are the only people booked for that time. If we were to cancel, the Lodge might be used for personal entertainment. If you know that that time of the year is not busy, then I suggest you don’t allow for bookings to be made. It immediately made us feel unwelcome. I requested to pay earlier and was told that it is not really how the Lodge work, but I will be sent a link. I had to follow up a few times to receive the link. When we arrived at the gate, we called the number provided on the gate, to which I was asked if I am sure we are at the right place. I don’t think I would have called a random number and again didn’t appreciate the way we were treated. The information about the lodge on Booking.com is limited and in most instances incorrect/inaccurate. This information has been an incorrect since Jun 23 (towels and linen at extra cost as one of many examples) and yet to be corrected. We watched a few movies on the large TV while it was raining, however, I had to use my own Netflix & DSTV login to be able to watch anything. Very relieved that it was only three of us at the lodge in this instance. I read through the other questions about the lodge on Booking.com and can state that if proper information is provided on the website, the majority of questions wouldn't have been asked. In example, information about the game drives/walks are missing completely. In short, if I had to rate the lodge on my interaction with Kevin & the information on website, it would have only been negative with poor rating. Ockert and Salomie changed everything, and Kevin can learn a thing or two from them in terms of hospitality. The tourism industry in SA is big and there is a lot of competition and if it weren’t for Ockert & Salomie, we wouldn't have recommended the Lodge to anyone.

The hosts were really lovely, Caroline was an absolute gem. The food was out of this world, a solid 10/10. We felt like we were right at home. We really needed this break away from the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg. The massage, just wow also a solid 10/10. I would suggest that there be a designated treatment room not an old room with furniture. A massage is about the atmosphere too: a dimmed room, gowns, some diffusers to smell great, soft music and a relaxing atmosphere. I also enjoyed the game drive, I was hoping to see buffalo though.

I packed my costume to swim but the pool was green and I was definetly not going to get inside a green pool. No alcohol allowed from outside the property but they didn't have cognacs and my husband and I love a good cognac. No bar fridge and aircon in the room.

no mosquito solution, no fan and we had to keep the windows shut due to mosquitos.
