Villa Carolina

Very easy to collect keys. A professional set up and easy property access. For context - we were a family of five (two grandparents sharing the two single bed room, two professional adults and a baby sharing the upstairs master bedroom - we used the bunkbed room as a place for the baby to nap in the day/early eve). Fantastic quiet location. Beautiful view from seating area by pool. We spent every night sitting out looking at the view of the sea. Great BBQ area. Well equipped kitchen - a little mismatched in terms of wine glasses etc, but a rustic feel with everything you would need including a juicer for freshly squeezed OJ. We had 2 BBQs and it was amazing. Washing machine, dishwasher, iron all included and straightforward. Pool fantastic and lovely for a refreshing dip. Showers great. Clean mattresses all with protectors. Safe in master bedroom. Clean, tidy - we felt we got value for money and would stay again. I will also mention that the pool is quite deep. We had a small baby with us who used a floaty but it isn’t safe for small children alone. To access the property you need to climb approx 15 steps.

Generally some bits and bobs around the place a bit tired and could use a refresh (however the fact that they haven’t been is reflected in the price). It’s a simple place without fancy frills - and that worked for us. The patio furniture is tired and the lounge needs another chair - but everything is in working order. Pool towels - these are in the promotional pictures and as such should really be provided. Luckily we brought some spares. Smart TV - there is only a very basic TV that doesn’t connect to the WiFi - so if you don’t speak Spanish there isn’t anything to watch. Not a problem for us as we only tried one eve but would have been nice. These are cheap to buy and provide a bit of alternative evening entertainment for guests. Soaps, olive oil, etc. You are given a small washing up liquid (that would last a couple of days), one dishwasher tablet and one toilet roll in each bathroom (no hand soaps etc). We went out and bought all of these things… and no doubt other guests do too because you only use a small portion of these during your stay. It would be great if these could be left for future guests.

Lovely location. Spacious property. Multiple dining areas. Large sliding doors onto the terrace. Quiet area. Aircon inside.

Multiple issues, most dealt with when flagged but some not. Issues dealt with quickly: short on glasses (provided), only 4 chairs on front dining area and no cushions (2 more chairs provided but only 4 cushions), only 2 room fans and 1 broken (1 replaced), dirty property including bedding unwashed (cleaned and replaced on notification), only 1 hairdryer which was broken (replaced with a second hand one), pool net for debris completely disintegrated (replaced). Issues not dealt with or responded to directly: pool was dirty and tiles falling off/ in bad condition and living room only had 1 x 2 seat sofa for 6 people. Issues not raised during our stay but which should be addressed: Kitchen only has 1 working area around 30cm wide, which considering the size of the property is very poor - there should be more work surface. All bedding under sheets eg mattress protectors etc need washing as they are all dirty, outside BBQ area needs a proper set up for cooking as they only provide a grill rack that sits directly on the coals and basically doesn’t work. There is also a kitchen door hanging off.

Absolutely loved our stay at villa Carolina such a perfect setting for relaxing, it’s so peaceful and the views are beautiful. The villa was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. Although it’s not far from the shops and bars we hired a car and I would definitely recommend this for getting around Son Bou and the exploring the island. BC property’s we’re outstanding from start to finish clear instructions and directions to the property and at hand whenever we needed them with enquiries etc. couldn’t recommend them highly enough!

The pool could do with some steps gradually getting into the pool (there is a ladder ) but that’s just our preference as we like to sit half way in.

No beach/pool towels like the pictures led us to expect (green towels on every pool lounger in pics). We had to buy beach towels on first day. No beach equipment to use (umbrellas).

The Villa building was lovely, a really nice space, and a cool refuge when the 33 degree heat got a bit too much. The resort of Son Bou has a wonderful beach, and is pretty chilled out and peaceful. During our stay, it felt quiet and relaxing when we hung out at the Villa. Access to the property was efficient and simple, with good communication with the owners.
