Villa Galateia

Wir hatten eine tolle Woche in der schönen Villa. Die Villa ist gut ausgestattet, alles vorhanden was es für einen tollen Urlaub benötigt. Besonders hervorzuheben sind die Gastgeber. Wir fühlten uns super aufgenommen und wurden auch mit griechischen Leckereien von Filia und Manilo verwöhnt 🥰 Die Kontaktaufnahme und Kommunikation mit Marina hat super geklappt 😄 Die Villa liegt auch gut für Ausflüge nach Heraklion etc. Dafnes ist ein netter kleiner Ort mit einem Marktplatz mit div. Tavernen, hier gab es auch entsprechende Empfehlungen ☺️

Die Villa liegt unterhalb einer Straße. Da ich sehr geräuschempfindlich bin, habe ich immer meine Ohrstöpsel dabei. Mein Mann hatte kein Problem mit evtl. Strassengeräuschen in der Nacht. Daher empfanden wir es nicht als störend, ist aber natürlich immer persönliches Empfinden.

This villa was absolutely perfect for what we needed from our holiday. It was really well equipped and homely, stunning and well looked after. We rarely needed to get anything for our stay! This is probably one of the best stocked villas we’ve stayed in. The villa has ample seating space for meals and the pool area is really relaxing with shaded areas too! We were met by the host’s father Manolis who showed us to the villa and around the villa itself and despite language barriers did a great jobs of informing us of everything and making us feel so welcome! We were greeted with so much to get our stay started, including bread, wine, water, fruit and cheese as well as sweet treats! The host Marina’s parents Manolis and Filia stayed next to the villa and couldn’t be more welcoming, again despite language barriers we made fast friends with them and felt so well looked after. When we had a power outage Manolis came to our aid immediately! Filia and Manolis often dropped round with baked goods, sweet treats and even cooked us meals which were to die for! We got the full Cretan experience and loved it. We can’t thank them enough!

Some people may have trouble being as close to a main road, but for us the noise wasn’t too bad! Had heard the WiFi could be spotty, on the first day when we arrived it was a little temperamental but I can’t say we struggled all that much with it after that!

Beautiful and comfortable outdoor area

La villa est extrêmement bien équipée, il en a tout ce qu'il faut et même plus: enormement de vaisselle de tout genres, lave-vaisselle, lave-linge, une vrai four, air fryer, un barbecue extérieur, cafetière, bouilloire, gaufrier (bon, il n'y a pas de micro-ondes mais vu tous qu'il y a ce n'est pas grave). Surtout, il.y à tout pour faire fonctionner ces appareils: thé, café, sucre, les différentes condiments, les pâtes, du riz, des fruits et legumes du jardin dans le frigo, les pastilles pour lave-linge et lave-vaisselle, les torchons... Bref, comme à la maison. Les hôtes sont extrêmement attentifs et agréables, ils répondent à toutes vos questions et à vos besoins. L'espace extérieur est très varié, il y a plusieurs "coins" pour s'installer, discuter, se reposer ou manger, dont plusieurs avec la vue sur les montagnes et oliveraies. La piscine est apprécié après une promenade au soleil bien que l'eau est fraîche.

Booking ne donne pas le bon emplacement de la villa: en réalité, elle se trouve juste à côté d'une route nationale et le bruit qui va avec, et bien.plus loin du village : 25 min à pied minimum avec des montée, descentes et zigzags, je déconseille prendre cette route en voiture la nuit (il est possible aller en voiture en.village en faisant un détour). Booking annonce 3 chambres et 2 salle de bains. La salle de bain au rez-de-chaussée est très bien, mais à l'étage il n'y a qu'un WC et un lavabo. Concernant les chambres: il faut passer par une d'elles pour accéder aux 2 autres ou à la salle d'eau. En plus, les chambres sont séparées pas par des murs des cloisons pour laisser passer l'air climatisé et pour la même occasion ils laissent passer la lumière et le son. En plus, les velux des chambres n'ont pas de volets et la lumière rentre dès la levée du soleil. Nous n'avons pas pu bien dormir, malheureusement. Peut être que nous sommes spécialement sensibles ?

Have you ever wondered what Cretan Hospitality is all about? Well, look no further than Villa Galateia. Manolis and Philio were our hosts and we could not have asked for anyone better. Seriously I have visited more than 20 countries and stayed in hundreds of rental properties and this lovely couple made me feel like being hosted by family members! The property itself was excellent - clean, traditional, spacious and filled with every amenity you can think of. Easy to park in a lovely remote and serene location this was the best stay we could have asked for! Absolutely loved it! Thank you!

Vi elskede dette kæmpe store hus, hvor vi mærkede den græske gæstfrihed. Poolen var lækker med gode solsenge, så kun de bedste anbefalinger herfra!

Der var ikke noget vi ikke kunne lide, men vi kunne ikke få emhætten til at virke. Der var lidt forvirring omkring forklaringen for anvisningen til at komme til stedet, men det er nok delvis google maps skyld, udlejer var meget tålmodig og behjælpelig

We’ve had the privilege of staying in many wonderful places around the world — but our week at this magical villa in Dafnes truly stands out as one of the very best experiences we've ever had. The villa itself is stunning: spacious, impeccably clean, and incredibly well-equipped. The beds are supremely comfortable, the kitchen has everything you could ever need (and more), and the large fridge came in very handy for our family. The private pool is immaculate and beautifully maintained — our kids spent hours splashing around and loving every minute of it. The location is perfect — peaceful, authentic village charm with quick access to lovely beaches and Heraklion. Within 20–25 minutes we were at the sea, enjoying Crete’s coastline, yet we always looked forward to returning to the peaceful comfort of the villa. But what made this trip truly unforgettable were our hosts, Cilia and Manolis. We always meet kind people on our travels, but these two raised the bar to a whole new level. Their warmth, generosity, and genuine hospitality touched us deeply. It honestly felt more like visiting family than staying in a rental. We laughed, talked, shared stories — and created memories we’ll cherish forever. We also want to express our heartfelt thanks to their wonderful daughter, Marina, who was incredibly helpful from the very beginning. She made sure everything was smooth, stayed in touch throughout, and was always just a message away if we needed anything. We left with full hearts and already can’t wait to return. If you’re lucky enough to stay here, you’ll understand exactly what we mean. Thank you, Cilia, Manolis, and Marina — you’ve truly created something special. 💙
