Villa Vena

It was stunning, so peaceful and private. It was in a superb location, 5 min walk to the beach but offered a relaxing retreat at the end of the day! The hosts were very handy and kind.

The apartment was a great size, with two good bedrooms, a large lounge/diner/kitchen and modern bathroom. The outside area was beautifully designed with cactus and olive trees everywhere. The owners supplied lots of towels, some shower gel, shampoo, soap and toilet roll. They also gave us a lovely cake on arrival. The apartment is part of a larger property with two other apartments, but it is actually a beautiful house which has been divided. It stands in lovely gardens of olive trees and there is plenty of private space to sit. The owners were friendly but not overbearing which was perfect. There was plenty of space inside plus air conditioning, a TV and a fully fitted kitchen. Overall a beautiful place to stay.

The area, Palaia Fokaia, was OK and we found some lovely beaches... However, there was a lack of shops, particularly tourist shops. It seems that the resort is a Greek resort, with less foreign visitors - this is fine, but does limit some of the things we like in the UK... Ice cream shops, souvenir shops etc. However, it was a great position to visit Athens and close to the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion. As these things were important to us the position was more important than the actual town.
