The Durrell White House

stunning location, right on the water wonderful views, good size for a family reasonable size bedrooms, good kitchen had most things we needed, beautiful setting, the hosts were excellent at getting back with any queries we had. nice touch with some nice things in the kitchen on our arrival

the balcony was a little small for the size of the property, as it states for 8 people, it was a real squeeze to get 6 of us on it, which was a shame as the views were amazing, there was another larger terrace to the front of the property but it was right next to the road and people walking passed, also no view, just over looking the road and other apartments. also there was no information booklet, so we had to message the host for any queries within the property, and it would have been nice to have some information on the bay, like bus routes, restaurants boat trips etc

The location and position on the beach front was perfect!

The unusual decor and history as a holiday location was fantastic and so unique, we absolutely loved it! There were a few grubby tired marks around the furniture and bedding, the bathroom floor could have been cleaner. Apart from that the place was perfect and we only wish we could have stayed longer.

We booked the accommodation in September 2024 for our August/September 2025 holiday, it was a treat for the family as we're all big fans of The Durrells and have read most of their books and Corfu looked beautiful. I was then a bit worried as a couple of the reviews were so negative! However, on arrival, it was clear we had absolutely nothing to worry about! The apartment really is lovely, it has a history the photos & articles on the walls added to that, it's not modern or contemporary! which we all loved & has a really nice inviting feel about it and its beautifully furnished. The kitchen is really well equipped with everything we needed, plenty of pots, pans and lovely serving dishes if you are cooking , the boys made full use of the toastie machine!! Both bathrooms were great and all bedrooms have ample storage too . All 8 of us felt at home and made full use of the living areas, especially the large dining table, and we all enjoyed plenty of time sat on the balcony watching people & the beautiful bay of kalami & witnessing incredible sunrises, it was all so relaxing, and we really enjoyed swimming below near the white house restaurant. The lady who cleans the apartment is really friendly we always waved and said hello and she brought us fresh towels and bags for the bins , I didn't realise this & initially washed our towels! If you want to know anything about the facilities in the apartment just ask Joy in the white house office she's really helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed booking a boat with her too ! There is a pool opposite but slightly uphill in front of the white house apartments that we used most afternoons to relax and enjoy a spectacular view ! Kalami is a little piece of heaven it's a really special place, I shed a little tear upon leaving & we all agreed we had the most wonderful week with something for everyone & I hope to return someday.

Chairs on the balcony not very comfortable, and maybe a couple of sunloungers & parasol on the patio ? A couple of the mattresses on beds not to comfortable but non of which spoilt our holiday !

This is a magical place to stay. It is an apartment where Lawrence Durrell (brother to Gerald) lived for a few years. The views are stunning. The apt is large, sleeps 8. It has a wonderful atmosphere. We loved being there very much. The apartment is so charming and the views are unfailingly beautiful. The village is lovely. So convenient for restaurants and getting bits of food and some gifts. So nice to stroll through. We rented a boat and operated it ourselves, never having driven a just before. It’s actually quite easy and is a wonderful thing to do. Swimming off the boat in the coves was fantastic. It is the most gorgeous place. We loved loved loved the White House. There is something about it that is magical

It could have been a bit cleaner. They were a bit stingy with soap and shampoo etc and beach towels would have been nice. But no big deal

Uncomfortable beds, uncomfortable seats, not enough crockery for 4 people. No shelves in bathroom. No welcome information for taxis, rubbish etc etc

The White House was perfect in every way! The location was great, with beautiful views 👌. There was plenty of space for everyone on the trip, with the villa boasting 2 bathrooms. The beds were comfortable, too.

The air conditioning had broken before we arrived.

Beautiful location. Tasteful decoration. We were unavoidably delayed by many hours, but Tasos was very obliging about check-in. A peaceful few days enjoying the scenery! Bliss..
