Huvilalta oli upeat näkymät merelle ja saimmekin seurata upeaa auringon laskua privaattipaikalta. Huvilan omistaja oli erittäin avulias ja ystävällinen, jonka kanssa yhteydenpito sujui mutkattomasti. Autolle löytyy parkkialue suljetun portin sisältä, mikä on myös hyvä asia. Huvilalla runsas valikoima erilaisia tarvikkeita, teetä, kahvia, sokeria löytyi kaapeista valmiiksi. Nettiyhteys toimi hyvin. Erittäin siistiä ja hyvin pidetty talo lähellä vanhaa kaupunkia.

Jyrkkää nousua mäkeä ylös, huonojalkaiselle ei paras paikka, mutta meille ei tämä ollut ongelma lainkaan. Huvilalla saisi olla jokin pulahdusallas, pihalla kuitenkin riittäisi tilaa vaikka uima-altaalle. Kunnolliset uima-rannat ovat suhteellisen kaukana. Myöskään kunnollista suurempaa ruoka kauppaa emme läheltä löytäneet, joissa olisi ollut kunnollinen valikoima. Vaatteille säilytystilaa on todella vähän jos viipyy pidemmän ajan, vain yksi kaappi.

Calm garden in backyard with amazing view. Could stay here forever 😍

Charming, beautiful views of the bay, towering ancient Fortezza wall adjoining our own private garden each am for coffee, access to swimming, private off street parking, excellent restaurants near along with historic sites. A refreshing spot to recharge after the days adventures! Thank you George and Stella!

George and his wife were the most gracious hosts. I was shown where everything was I needed and was left to settle in. After two days traveling the water and bowl of fresh fruit in the fridge was especially refreshing. This home was built and maintained for generations from a foundation of love for family. It is a very special place. The garden is not only filled with lemon trees and beautiful plants and flowers and an amazing view; there is a serenity of peace and quite, which is what I was looking for.

Everything was good

We have been traveling continuously for 4 months now, and while we have stayed in some nice and even very nice places, the Villa Casa di Maria is certainly the most comfortable for our taste; like staying at your grandparents’ place as a kid. Nothing fancy, nothing overly modern, but a warm time warp into the past when life was simpler. Complete with family photos back to the 1940s. The small house has a well-equipped kitchen, and the fresh fruit, juice, and espresso coffee that was provided was a lovely touch. Of course, if you are here in January like us, picking outstanding oranges from the tree out front was a treat. George, the host and multiple-generation owner, was exceedingly helpful. From pre-check-in to picking us up at the bus station to orientation of the property, to restaurant recommendations - truly outstanding service. A couple of nice cats who try to sneak in but who were also highly appreciative of a head scratch. No question, if ever back here again this is where we would stay.

The WiFi is consistent and gets the job done, but it can is not the fastest. Bit of a steep walk up to the house, but for us, that is a benefit - maybe a challenge for those who are less mobile and do not walk much. Some dogs bark in the neighborhood, but otherwise, quiet.

Location was excellent, parking was easy for old town From the backyard the view was spectacular! Mountains, sea, garden and old fortress wall!

The location is Stunning,proximity to the old town,yet a perfect retreat from the busy centre The accommodation is just perfect, everything you need is there some lovely little extra touches fruit in the fridge juice etc. Communication with George was excellent and effortless with some excellent recommendations. Loved this spot a real Oasis of calm.

Nothing

The location was really good next to many interesting places in Rethymno, yet far away from any noises. The place is really traditional, but well equiped with modern supplies. The home is really cosy and the best part of it is its breathtaking garden. You open the door and suddenly you find yourself in a serene garden full of trees and flowers. You can really enjoy yourself reading a book under an olive tree while the birds are singing and the noises of the waves are filling you with bliss. Last but not least, Giorgos, the host is very kind and ready to help you whenever you need. Can't wait to return.
