Pondok Sawah Asri

Lovely, family owned villa. Very private and peaceful.

A little out of the way for us. No car access to the villa, so needed to walk everywhere which is not a bad thing! The only comment I have is as there is no Circle K or store within walking distance, it would have been nice to have tea/coffee making facilities available for the times you want to just stay indoors (like when it was thunderstorms and raining heavily).

Pondok sawah asri was an awesome stay. It is a family run villa they only have 2 and is dad mum and 2 very delightful sons wayan and modi. Modi cooked us breakfast every day and was delightful with a little nervous giggle. I have sons similar age and was so nice to be in a family run establishment and see how beautiful they are together. Apparently pondok is the building sawah is their rice fields outside and Asri is mum's name very nice. The villa was big, clean and they were very attentive but not intrusive. Some may says it's old it is what you want in Bali authentic and a little rustic we were very impressed. Fantastic four nights for us nothing to complain about. It is about 500mtrs from the parking area so when you arrive they pick you up on scooter but it is an easy walk. It makes for a quieter environment no cars and it is a little village like which is nice. Plenty in walking distance and we walked into ubud Center in about 15 mins which with the traffic is almost quicker than a bike and definitely don't get a car. You can get gogek though to town for about $2 if you can't be bothered to walk or too hot so no issues. As I said restaurants bars and massage nearby if you don't want to go into the centre. They arranged a car for us to semniyak when we changed locations Wayan drove or you can book yourself. Washing was $3 a load. Breakfast was simple and fine you need to bear in mind Modi who cooks it is only 20 so I think he does a good job and he is very sweet. I would recommend this place but if you are someone who thinks everything is going to be brand new and clinical don't stay if you want real Bali hospitality and environment then this is a great place. Lovely family and very safe.

La hospitalidad, la ubicación y las instalaciones

The best part of this villa is the absolutely gorgeous garden and private pool. We did not think we would love it so much, but after spending a day in the busy Ubud, it was such a blessing to come and just relax in the pool just the two of us. The house, facilities, bed is as you would expect from the price and location. But Wayan and his brother... they are something else. So welcoming and helpful. Starting from picking us and our luggage up from the parking to making us breakfast everyday (even on a day when we went to mount Batur and had breakfast at 12 when we returned). The location was perfect in our opinion, because it is just the right distance from the crazy central Ubud - you are close (walk or grab ride away), but also can enjoy some peace when needed.

Could use some cosmetic upgrades to the house (cracks in walls that kind of stuff), but that did not lessen our experience. Minor issue for us.
