Open, spacious, comfortable, great location, away from hustle and bustle but still close to everything. Beautiful wood surrounds, large open verandas, and stylish touches. Olivia was a fantastic host, extremely helpful with local information and anything we needed. Fantastic pool, which had a lot of use! Lovely staff. We had the best stay of our journey so far at Villa gilimakyah, very relaxing and comfortable.

Olivia the host is amazing. So gracious and helpful, Olivia organised bicycles to be delivered for us, transport at the end of our stay, had her staff do laundry for us, and had the best food recommendations. Her son was the same age as our son, and was so kind, and on one of the afternoons he took my son out to play with the other local kids. My son said he was so lovely to him. We loved that the house fit our big family in comfortably and the pool was amazing at the end of each day. We also appreciated the cold filtered water - it saved us buying it. Thank you Olivia for being such an amazing host 🙏🏾

The only down fall was there was no conditioning in or fan in the living area. We trended to spend time in the bedroom where there was air con when it was really hot.

Pool was great. Good location close to the beach. Everything you need at the villa.

Nice chilly pool, great for hot days. lots of shaded areas to sit. location was also pretty good. 5 minute bike ride to north side beaches.

Architecture and build of the property is not conducive to hot/ tropical island life. Structure of the building allowed for very little ventilation, the master bedroom on the upper level while pretty and had a nice balcony was simply too hot to stay in, so I would consider this more of a 2 bed property. There was an air conditioning unit in the room but the vaulted ceilings and heat from main level just rose up and it hardly cooled down at all. The 2 bedrooms on the main level did cool down with the the air conditioners but you had to keep the doors closed to keep the cool air in, so the main living areas were also very hot. We asked for a 2nd fan to help circulate the cool air more, but it was not provided. It is also very dark and not great natural lighting at all. Pro and Con because no direct sunlight enters the building pretty much anywhere but it makes it feel very dark and closeted. It wasn’t really the island vibes we were hoping for. otherwise it is well designed and thought out and has a funky vibe to it but I definitely understand the sauna comments now (think hot and dark). Also if the power goes out (as it regularly does on Gili Air), you can’t really remain in the house with any sense of comfort. There was many keys to different doors in the house, but only 1 key to the front gate. No big deal if you’re travelling as 1 larger group, but splitting up made it a hassle to constantly coordinate who had the key. Also the housekeeper doesn’t have a key, so if you’re not there to let her in the rooms/ common indoor areas won’t be able to be serviced. You can easily coordinate this with her but a little bit of a hassle if you want to be out and about all day. For value on the island, there are many other comparable options I’d probably select when we come again next instead, but the private Villa/ lounge space for us was great as was having the cool pool and lovely garden. (Also, no breakfast provided which it is in most other accommodations).

The property was exceptional. The pictures do not do it justice. Probably the best villa we have ever stayed in.

The only downside was finding the property. we didn’t have an iPhone and the roads are merely unsignposted paths. I would have found detailed instructions helpful.

Although a short bike ride or walk to the beach, loved the quiet location, the large living space and our private pool.

The villa is spacious and has a beautiful garden, a great place for our kids to run around. The villa seems very new, everything is made of wood, with nice details (colorful tiles in floor living room & shower), there are also thoughtful decoration objects such as baskets. The Kitchen is very well equipped (although we are not sure what to cook here? We have not found a supermarket on the island which offers enough ingredients to make your own meal).

Although the ‘all-wood’ design was beautiful, it also had a bit of the look and-feel of a sauna. The living room has no airconditioning, so it is really hot inside. The patio would have been a great hangout spot if it were not for the many mosquitoes. We ended up sitting inside in the evening, reading in front of a small ventilator. The mosquito nets in the bedrooms are not very wide so the bed became a very cosy tent :-) The towels and blankets provided are of synthetic material. Cleaning in the afternoon only covered the garden / swimming pool, not the bedrooms, bathrooms or even the bins. Communication with the owner was a bit mixed: on one hand she was very responsive and helpful with arranging pick-up, on the other hand: she typed everything in French (we used booking.com translation to understand her messages), and when we asked for an early check-in for only one of the rooms as our baby needed to sleep around 12:30, she was not willing to accommodate this with the argument that the guests would leave at 11:00 and the staff needed the full three hours before checkin time. Fair enough as these are the conditions, but then the owner told us that we needed to check-out ourselves before 10:00 because the housekeeping needed to prepare the house for the new guests..? Very odd and a bit rude. Luckily we were able to get an early boat, otherwise we would have been stuck at the harbour with two young kids for hours.

Beautiful, clean and spacious villa, in the middle of absolute peace, a few minutes walk from the sea and restaurants. We enjoyed outdoor seating on the terrace and privacy to meditate on the porch upstairs. We appreciated the well equipped kitchen, air-conditioned rooms, comfortable beds, washing machine and last but not least, communication with the owner. I would definitely recommend the stay to everyone!

We struggled a bit with the wifi connection at first, but the owner responded immediately and willingly tried to solve the problem and find a solution.
