"Perfect sunrise!"

10.0

We witnessed the most beautiful sunrise during our stay. Michel, the host, was incredibly welcoming and kind. The house is stunning and absolutely perfect. We loved every moment of our stay, and the views of the city from the infinity pool are breathtaking.

Exceptional location. Totally exceptional and unique building. Due to the opening roof it is difficult to keep insects out. But this is a very low price to pay for this once-in-your-lifetime location and building.

"Cool house, but lacks privacy."

7.0

The owner wasn't onsite but his daughter was, she was very helpful with any questions we had. We were there during winter, so didn't use the pool but it looked very nice. Very nice view, and a close drive (12min) to Lucca. The house has some things that for me didn't make it that comfortable and I wouldn't stay again. It's very modern, it's not a typical/cosy Italian house, so if you like this kind of interesting and architectural houses, it will be perfect for you. My partner was very exited about the roof opening for example. While the stairs looked cool, I would say that due to the narrow and steep stairs, it would not be suitable for people with disabilities/unsteady people.

We had some issues with the warm water of the shower as I think it wasn't set to warm enough, and as we stayed in winter time it wasn't ideal. We asked for them to increase it and they tried, but it wasn't really warm enough which made the showers a bit uncomfortable. It was set to 38C degrees, but I think a water tank should be set to 50-60C to allow the actual water coming out to be hot enough. This also meant that we couldn't use the outdoor tub as it was too cold with the cold outdoor temperatures. Would be fine in warmer weathers. The bathroom also looks a little bit tired and lacks storage space. The interior of the house could also need a repaint/touch-up as there are a lot of scuff marks etc around the house which I guess in such an artsy house kinda disrupts the vibe. The main reason we booked it was because of the large windows/view, but it's not at all private unless you keep blinds closed, as the host lives in the house opposite the main areas and both houses have very large windows, it has a view straight into your bedroom/living room which made sleeping with the blinds open to enjoy the view, not possible unless you want to show them what you look like in the morning. The bed is also a Murray bed (pull-down) and the pillows are memory foam e.g very firm, so it wasn't too comfortable to sleep. I believe they use the house to host people to view their art (both hosts are artists) so I understand the reason for wanting a bed that they can hide. Finally, the map doesn't show the correct location when you enter the address as you actually have to drive on a private road which wasn't easy to find at night time. I was only able to locate it after looking around on google maps, searching manually after a house that looked similar.
