Villa Dora in Argaka

This was by far the worst experience we ever had. We had a bad feeling about this stay from the beginning, as the host was very late in responding to our messages about the check in instructions. When we arrived to the accommodation it was very cold in there only 13ﾟC so we needed to turn on the air conditioner which was unfortunately not working. We contacted the host and she told us that AC is an additional charge but there was no information about it on their listing and neither did they mention it before our arrival. They claimed that the ACs were supposed to be working only in the bedrooms and not in the living room/dining/kitchen area which was on the bottom floor. We didn't have a problem paying additional 12eur per day for it but the fact that they didn't even inform us about it before our arrival nor it was mentioned anywhere before or after booking was a huge shock for us, how could they have supposed that somebody would be alright to live in 13 degrees especially when paying for an expensive villa. We also contacted Booking about the issue and they agreed that we should not be charged for this since it was not mentioned anywhere on the listing. So we didn't end up paying the additional charge for it and they turned on the AC for us. Little did we know this was just the beginning of our problems here. We wanted to cook some dinner but we realised that the oven is not working either so they came back and called the maintenance guy who just switch on some electric switches in the main electricity panel which seemed like were turned off on purpose. Everything was good the next day, they even fixed the ping pong table net and brought us some pies from the bakery. But then in the evening again the oven was not working so we tried to call the host but she said nobody can fix it until Monday because it was weekend.

We were really upset about it, so we tried to fix the issue ourselves and after looking for the switches we found one switch that was turned off outside. After we fixed the switch ourselves we called them and told them that they don't need to come but they came to the house anyway and the host seemed to have a problem because we turned on the switch that for some unknown reason was dangerous to do. So she knew that it was a simple solution but she didn't want to tell us about it because she just wanted to save money on electricity. At the checkout the first thing the host did was to go to the oven and open it and started shouting that we somehow broke it. Actually it was just a bit dirty from food we baked because there was no baking tray to bake, only the metal wreck and no cleaning tools for cleaning the wreck. She was claiming that we were supposed to buy all the cleaning tools we needed ourselves. At this point it was clear that she was only looking for something that was wrong in the house to ask Booking to charge us more money because they knew that a bad review is inevitable. Next thing she opened a dishwasher which was full of bubbles because we had to use dishwashing soap, as she didn't provide any dishwashing tablets. Also there was no detergent for washing cloths either. For such expensive accommodation this is pathetic. They didn't want to let us leave the house and they wanted 100 euros for "repair". At this point we had enough and we told them they can call police if they want because we had nothing to be afraid about. Few minutes after we left we received an email from Booking requesting a damage payment of 200eur on their behalf because they claimed that we broke the dishwasher and the oven, which was a lie. We explained the situation to Booking and didn't have to pay for any "damage". We hope that nobody will have to go what we went through ever again.

The location is just perfect. Only 100m from the beach and you are alone there. We really enjoyed it and Dora the owner is helpful and very nice. Around the corner you have her Bakery with nice cakes, bread and delicious coffee. you don’t need to cook. A lot of restaurants around in walking distance.

The only thing is that the Furniture and the bathrooms are a bit old.

Dora was extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. the property was spacious as was the outside space and 3 bathrooms for 3 couples was great.

Mrs. Dora and her entire family was always very nice and helpful. Although we've arrived later, than announced, there was no issue in entering the villa. The house is really large and we 8 persons (4 adults + 4 kids) had plenty of space for rest, sleep and enjoyment. Allover the best is the nearest BAKERY with daily fresh products; kids enjoyed the donuts especially, adults pizzas. Our 2w holiday was great and calm, incl. visiting all the nice places on the western coast of Cyprus. Thx a lot!

There were no real issues during our stay, ... just one small comment - we've been "fighting" a bit with the dish-washer, which seemed not really to be in the best condition, but that didn't harm our holiday at all. ;-))
