Villa Petit Ludovica

This property is all about the view and location and not the accommodation.

The accommodation was basically clean, but the property is tired, and furnishings and fittings are old and dusty. I was particularly surprised at the state of the mattress, which was heavily stained, dirty and indeed looked as it had previously had a bed bug infestation, (though none were identified on this stay) just covered with a thin sheet. At worse I would have expected a clean washable mattress cover to cover the stains. When I raised this with the manager, he was very prompt at delivering a new mattress cover and I was grateful for this. However, the bottom line is that this should have been addressed and indeed one of the earlier comments did describe in detail the state of the mattress. I can only imagine the people rating this property exceptional had no idea what was under the sheet. Generally, there was a high level of dust in and under the bed structure, the single bed lamp (there is only one bed side light not two as shown in the picture) and the hair dryer. This would have been out the scope of the cleaning staff who appeared to not have access to a vacuum cleaner just an old brush and mop. The visible areas were clean. Alas the swimming platform is home to a large number of sea gulls and there is a large amount of smelly seagull poop and nowhere to lay down towels. The only loungers were broken but perhaps they didn’t belong to the property. The location saved the day but at close to 300 euros a night I did expect the basics to have been sorted even if the property was old.

Many dark long hairstraws in the bed/on madrass and there were no sheets on the bed, just madrass with lots of yellow spots and lots of hairstraw! The bed was nasty. Allso insects and spider nett in corners, and painting on the terrasse floor from the chairs. I was itching over my whole body after. The host alleready says she eas busy, so no help. Allso this appartment is not like the pictures. In the area outside in the garden there was leaves, dirt and rotten fruit. In other rewews it also says that there was vegglus and dirt, but the host assured us that it would be clean. She does not even bother to put on sheets at hairy madrass! Based on the leveel of cleaning we tried to cancel our staying. 290 euro a night is robbery. Extremely disappointed on booking that tryes to say that this is not a good reason to get our money back! We ended up paying double and stay in another hotel. Dont choose this place, you will regret it.

Excellent communication prior to arrival. Well resourced with all the essentials, plus some additional and thoughtful items for your arrival. The balcony and steps to the the sea are amazing.

We really loved this of property . The location was excellent , having the private steps down to the sea was wonderful, it was very clean , close to a bus stop & grocery store. The outside deck is amazing ! Also having onsite private parking was great !

Little things.. , like the air-conditioner in the bedroom didn’t work ( maybe the batteries in the remote ?) . We felt it was hard to make the apartment secure .. we had trouble locking the 2 doors in the bedroom & living room. The kitchen kettle needs to be replaced . These are little things that can be fixed .

The view was awesome and the deck was very spacious. It also had a private access to the sea.

The cleanliness was below standard, there was a moldy smell and some visible mold in certain spots. Outside areas could be more appealing with some basic maintenance.

Fantastic location overlooking sea

There was a spectacular view from the villa which we had all to ourselves. It featured a furnished terrace from which to admire the view and several lower levels and terraces extending down to the sea. There were many lemon trees which added to the appeal of this pretty place. Local buses to Amalfi, Minori were available after a short walk and mostly reliable. The bus to Cimbrone gardens was not running during our stay so we had to get a taxi instead. Laura was a friendly and helpful host who met us at the property and was happy to give us tips and information about the local area.

In the kitchen, some baking trays to use in the oven, and more work bench space would have allowed for more convenient cooking. The plastic under-sheet on the bed was somewhat uncomfortable. Apart from a Michelin Guide restaurant, the location was not near any cafes etc. There was one small shop which could only be reached by walking along the narrow road which had no footpath. However this seems quite normal for this part of Italy. Sometimes we were required to use an expensive taxi when the local buses were not available or running.
