"Lovely location but more needs to be done for visitors who are not fluent in English"

8.0

Liked the fact that there was access on to the sea/beach directly and it was kept very clean and tidy. The supermarket was well stocked but no English spoken by staff, although they were helpful. Restaurants on site - the one by the supermarket is the best and staff are nice and helpful. The pizzeria by the pool, had no atmosphere was souless, they were not friendly and food average. We had to sit on a garden bench around a table, which was uncomfortable. The bar/cafe by the beach was lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful and spoke English and taught has Italian too. They did really good breakfast options. Across the board for all restaurants, there needs to be a couple more vegetarian options, if you were staying in every night to eat you would only have a pizza and one pasta to choose from. All restaurants are very fish/seafood heavy. This may be a regional thing, but something to broaden if you want other countries to visit. Also great that first week of bedding and towels were in the villa when we arrived and we had a parking space. The village was kept very clean, no rubbish was seen at all.

On arrival we got our key and were given a map to try and find our villa. The first stumbling block is where we park the car. This needs to be explained and told exactly which spot is ours. We managed to stop a staff member who spoke a little English and showed us where our villa was after walking around for 20 mins with our cases. After a long journey we just wanted to get in and relax. Perhaps show people to their villas would be a nice touch. Very little is translated into English, including information on the Gitavillage and especially in the restaurants. It would be very easy to put the English/German/French underneath each item on menu. There is no information in the villa to tell you what is available onsite. We were given one map on arrival, but nothing to let us know when the supermarket and restaurants were open and whether we could order to take away etc or what we could hire and the current cost eg bikes. This would be very helpful as a visitor in a folder in the villa, so we can plan our stay. Some local information about places to visit would also be nice. The pool area was mobbed by children and the noisy disco/entertainer put us off even trying to use the pool. We understood the bigger pool was for Adults and kids used smaller pool - not the case. Again nothing was in English so we did not know what was going on. One of the pools should be for adults only, or at least give us a time slot when we can use solely. In the villa, you need a couple of sofas to relax on not a bed, very hard for the older members of our group to get comfortable, only option was a plastic chair outside or wooden chairs around table inside. Water pressure in villa needs to be improved especially in the showers. The ensuite had no curtain, soaked bathroom. No information as to what the process is for check-out ie removing rubbish etc. Mosquitos were very problematic and eating outside was not very relaxing, take strong insect repellent.
