Landhaus im Hartbergerland

This place is a gem. Please don’t change a thing. Our family has spent the summers in Hartberg Austria for the last nine years. This summer we were only able to stay for a week and a schedule conflict did not allow us to stay at our normal place. This was a last minute find on Booking. It was perfect. Location is great. Walking path to downtown Hartberg (10min walk). Under 5 min walk to Billa market down the street. Perfect for family, group of friends and a couple who wants to get away and enjoy the fertile freshness Steiermark region has to offer. So much to do in the area for families and friends. Hot springs, awesome local pool and community center, practice soccer field 10 min walk away, hiking, wine vineyards, chocolate factory with Zoo for kids, castles, more hiking…strawberry picking, more wine vineyards…..biking….thermal spas…..more castles….with a zoo for the family….mini golf…movie theatre….so much….. We try not to tell any Americans about this area, we want to keep it a secret. But if you are from the States, and decide to take a chance, do yourself a favor, and stay at this wonderful home. Host speaks English, and is very attentive and helpful. House is fully equipped for full on cooking and relaxing. Internet is solid, house is clean and cozy, beds are super comfortable. Our son loved to stay in the sleeper sofa downstairs (even though he could sleep in the upstairs bedroom). Thank you, and we’ll be sure to come back.

Really close to a supermarket, 25 min walk to the Innenstadt, far enough away from the big road to feel calm and quiet, surrounded by greenery. A rustic feel with high ceilings, it stayed nicely cool during hot days, as long as you make sure to close windows and blinds during the day! It definitely has a bit of old farmhouse vibe without feeling in the least bit dated. The upstairs bathroom with tub and shower was beautifully spacious and felt brand new. The kitchen had a built in breakfast nook which was used daily by the kids as their art table. We mostly ate outside on the south west facing Terrasse, and used the separate dining room as a yoga space by moving furniture to one side. Hubby used the large pullout couch bed in the living room a few times when it was too warm for him in the upstairs bedroom, and also because he's such a tall man (190 cm) that he kept bumping his feet on the foot board of the large bed upstairs. In the evenings we had movie night and played with the generous supply of board games in this living room as well. We loved late morning coffee and tea on the Terrasse which would catch sun as early as 9 am or so. We borrowed the large white towels for our trips to the local swimming spots. The landlords were very friendly, very accommodating and proactive, bringing additional kitchen tools upon request, and being very communicative on the booking.com messaging app. They also showed up spontaneously a couple of times to fix a heating issue before it became a problem for us, and to deal with the robot lawn mower.

-Some of the old black out blinds are only partially functional -As a tea drinker I would appreciate a plug in water kettle - There was only one pot, the largest, that had a lid.
