YaChara Villa

The villa stay was truly exceptional. It was spotlesly clean, comfortable and with breathtaking views. While a car is essential, you'll find good tarvernas just 15 to 20min drive way. The real gem was the local beach a mere 5 min drive from the villa. We only discocvered it on our last day and wished we'd spent more time there. Its grest for snorkeling with no large crowds, but remember to bring your sea shoes!

Quiet and peaceful area with lovely views down the mountain to the sea and sunsets. It is a fantastic modern villa with lovely furnishings and plenty of kitchen utensils, crockery etc. The beds were very comfortable. The breakfast bar outside lounge has been changed to a low bench, which was pleasant for lounging around on but a table & chairs outside the lounge area to sit at to eat breakfast would be better in my opinion. There is a large table and benches for outside dining but it is to the back of the property and a tree (which needs cutting back) blocks the views a little. There’s also a great stone built bbq (which we didn’t get a chance to use as no charcoal) and a pizza oven (but not sure if that’s accessible/usable yet). There’s also a lovely swing seat, but again, as it’s behind the property, not a great place to take advantage of the views. There were 4 sun loungers and 2 outdoor lounging seats and a very nice, comfortable covered seating area overlooking the pool for some shade. A man came to clean pool and a nice lady came to clean and change sheets half way through the week and even brought us some fresh eggs. It would have been nice to know when they were coming though! She seemed lovely but could speak no English at all. The location of the villa is a good base for exploring Chania (35 minute drive) and lovely beaches at Falasarna (35 minutes) and Elafonosi (I hour). A bottle of water and wine were in the fridge when we arrived which was a nice touch but that was it. We didn’t expect many provisions to be provided as it’s self catering but were a little surprised to have to buy things like salt, bin liners, loo rolls which are usually provided.

Not much and I would definitely recommend the villa but if you’re at all a nervous driver, you should be aware that the last bit of the drive up to the villa is quite treacherous on a very narrow, steep track. There is not much room to turn in the driveway but you really wouldn’t want to reverse down such steep twists and turns. An improvement would be to tarmac a wider area of the driveway to enable turning. You definitely need a car as there is nothing within walking distance. Also, although the villa was spotlessly clean overall, around the baths and showers in the bathrooms need a deep clean as there was some black mould. The pool was lovely but very small. The communication with the hosts was ok but even though I had messaged before to check there were pool towels, only 3 were provided for 5 of us and we had to wait 2 days to get more. Also, there was a breakdown in communication on the last day as they had confirmed we could check out of the villa 2 pm as we had a late flight but the cleaning ladies hadn’t been told so turned up to clean at 11.30 am anyway so we felt a little rushed as they had to start cleaning around us! These are just picky things to feedback to the hosts to help them improve the villa even more as overall it is a beautiful villa which I would definitely recommend!

the villa is in a very quiet and large area, with a swimming pool and everything you need to have a successful stay...but....

when I got there, I encountered many shortcomings compared to the pictures on the booking, the villa is under renovation on the outside... there is no barbecue, there is no playground for children... next to the pool there is a place where I found dirt a lot, the pool is unkempt, I talked to the owner and he sent a lady to clean... that lady came very nervous and started throwing things left and right... she was very confused that she came to clean it.... it was cleaned... but from my point of view it's not normal for it to look so dirty... there. it hadn't been cleaned for weeks..... one of the owners came to see the situation... he said he was bringing someone to clean the pool... I left and the pool wasn't cleaned anymore... honestly sorry for that villa, but I don't know to take care of her and make you feel good... do not recommend...

Modern, well equipped villa, luxury feel, brilliant outdoor space, peaceful and relaxing location, wonderful views.

Only issue was the poor water supply/water pressure which was apparent for half of our stay, this seemed to be a local issue rather than a villa issue

The views, the modern bedrooms with air con, lovely outdoor spaces.

Perhaps a table and chairs outside lounge for breakfast. Had to have a car. Nothing walkable eg restaurants.

Modern, spatious and comfortable accomodation located in quiet area with relaxing sea sunset view. Perfect for family of 4 but also good for familiy of 6. Pool is small but extremely pleasant. Responsive and helpful management. After 10 days didn't want to leave...

Everything was amazing, this house is exceptionally good and convinient for 6 people and the area is very tranquil and beautiful.

There was nothing we didn't like, but it would be prudent to mention that you absolutely need a car and you must be confident at driving narrow, winding, mountain roads, the last bit of ascent to the villa is particularly steep with very little room for turning around to get back down if you are in a larger car as we were
