Villa Kostela Makarska

The villa is outstanding, located in a private hillside location, high above Makarska. The host welcomed us to the property and gave a full tour, ensuring we had all we needed for our stay. Marko gave us his personal WhatsApp so we could ask any questions during the stay. They also checked in with us regularly, offering to bring any essentials we needed when they tended their olive trees nearby. The villa is bright and airy, with large glass doors which open fully to bring an open feel the the villa. It is fully equipped, comfortable and finished to a very high standard. It is immaculately clean throughout. Beds are comfortable with fresh white linen, with cover options for different temperatures. Showers and bathrooms are excellent with abundant hot water and travel toiletries, again with a good supply of fresh white towels. Kitchen is well equipped with all needed to cater for yourself. There was also a lovely welcome pack of local honey, olive oil and two local spirits! Fridge freezer also dispenses cold water and ice, a nice touch! Aircon works beautifully in every room keeping things cool during the evenings. Outdoor spaces are fantastic, with various spaces to relax, eat, swim and chat. VIEWS ARE TO DIE FOR! The infinity pool is spotless, with the host cleaning it twice during our stay (with prior notice) and the hot tub was another perfect spot to relax and enjoy the views from. Sun loungers and outdoor seating are of high quality, with good covers/padding and not your usual plastic type. We did not use the BBQ area but this is also finished to high standards. Our 4yr old also loved the presence of the family cat. We are cat fans so loved his presence. I really can't fault the villa and Marko, the most attentive host we've had. Thank you for having us in your beautiful home!

I can't fault the villa, host or the area. It exceeded our expectations in every way. We loved the hillside location. However, you should really consider the location. It is high in the hills above Makarska (as advertised) which we loved. BUT it is up a very steep, narrow and windy road. Please consider this when booking. The host did provide full details of a local taxi company to get into the town, or you can use your car. Walking would be a challenge for most.

Vom Moment unserer Ankunft an haben wir uns unglaublich wohl gefühlt. Alles war liebevoll vorbereitet, makellos sauber und mit so vielen durchdachten Details dekoriert, dass wir uns sofort wie zu Hause gefühlt haben. Die Villa selbst ist ein wahres Paradies: modern, stilvoll und gleichzeitig gemütlich. Der Blick auf das Meer und die Berge ist einfach atemberaubend – besonders bei Sonnenuntergang. Wir haben viele entspannte Stunden am Pool verbracht, die friedliche Atmosphäre genossen und unsere Gedanken schweifen lassen. Ein ganz besonderes Highlight war die Teilnahme an der Olivenernte! Es war eine großartige Erfahrung, die Leidenschaft Ihrer Familie für das Land und die Natur aus nächster Nähe mitzuerleben. Diese authentischen Momente haben unseren Aufenthalt wirklich unvergesslich gemacht. Ihre Gastfreundschaft hat uns sehr beeindruckt. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder! An alle, die noch überlegen, ob sie buchen sollen – tun Sie es!

Villa Kostela was absolutely wonderful. The pictures on Booking.com looked amazing when we booked our stay (2 weeks in Aug 2024) and in reality it fully lived-up to the promise of those photos. The villa is located in a very quiet location on the edge of a village - located up steep hills and a few minutes drive outside of the town of Makarska. The best of both worlds - perfect for peace and quiet and open air (no other properties were close-by), but also close enough to drive (or walk / run) into town, or to the beach. The villa has everything you need for a stay, and more (we really enjoyed using the pool, the Jacuzzi, and the BBQ, and the resident cat was a bonus!). There is a big choice of supermarkets and shops in Makarska where you can get everything you need (we tried all the supermarkets I think - Konzum was our favourite in terms of choice and quality). The villa host (Marko) was really straightforward and helped make our stay very enjoyable - answering any questions and giving advice whenever we asked for it (e.g. boat trips, restaurants etc). One favourite restaurant of ours was Big Mama - amazing, simple food cooked on wood fire, with great hosts.

I really can't think of anything I would like to change. The only watch-out is that the road to the villa is steep and narrow and probably wouldn't be quite as suitable for nervous drivers or less mobile people.

This property is fabulous. The views are wonderful. We spent many hours during the day and in the evening just mesmerised by the views. So relaxing. The inside of the house is very modern with all amenities that we required. The outside is set up with the pool, several seating areas, outside kitchen with cooking and dining area. Hot tub/jacuzzi also included. The property is very secluded so no one overlooking you. A car is essential but it is only a 10 minute drive to several very good supermarkets, restaurants, cafe's, etc. Lovely walks along the seafront and to several viewpoints.

The road up to the property was single track with passing places and in quite poor condition.. I was told some people found it awkward but I didn't have any problems. The road was blocked just beyond the property towards the small village of Kotisina as the council were installing mains water pipes. This will cause a bit of disruption for the owners for the next few weeks but will eventually give them mains water and a brand new resurfaced (concrete) road. The mains water and the new road when completed will be great for visitors to the villa.

Our stay at Villa Kostela was simply magical. It is a true Makarska paradise the moment you walk through the gate. Marko is an excellent host. We lacked for nothing. We will return again as there is no other villa as lovely. Thank you for a perfect stay.
