Tamarind Tree Zanzibar

Beautiful, well maintained grounds with a beautiful view. The house was cozy, well equipped, and very clean. It was amazing to have the whole house, and pool to ourselves. The sunsets every night were gorgeous and dinner prepared by the staff was delicious.

Breakfast was a disaster, it got worse by the day. Not enough fruit (watermelon only on our last day), no fruit juice despite glasses on the table, had to ask for filter coffee on two days, no butter, only had bread on one day despite a bakery down the road. Served an old omelet from the previous day, sweet rice and fried eggs don’t go together. Thankfully the pancakes were good. The catering staff were slack

We can use the whole facility of this villa. Nobody but us is staying so you can really be relaxed. The pool is also a good size for the kids.

If there is a washing machine, it would be more than perfect. Location is really hiding as it is not displayed on the google map but you can enjoy looking for the place also.

The views were amazing, it was a private haven, the design was perfect. I enjoyed every detail of the design and it inspired me to borrow some of the ideas for my home. The staff was very accommodating and the owner was very attentive to us.

The only thing I would recommend is doing something to control the ants. There wasn't a major problem indoors, but around the pool deck and porch they were very active.

The location is fantastic and the facilities spacious and clean. The staff were extremely helpful and made sure that we felt looked after. We had a number of dinners at the property and the food was delicious.

Stunning property with large, comfortable rooms (with great air conditioning) and a stunning property with a pool and fruit trees with ocean views. The property comes with a full-time staff including a property manager, cook, maids, and a security guard. They are absolutely wonderful. They keep the house and property spotless and the food is out of this world. Breakfast is included and we loved it so much that we had them provide dinner multiple nights (for a very reasonable extra charge). The food is incredible! Jennifer (house manager) was super kind and helpful. 5 star property and service. There are a few good local restaurants and some basic service (grocery kiosks and money exchange stands) within walking distance but you'll need a taxi to go downtown for other sites/services. The taxi driver, Harith, that works with the property was incredibly helpful and reasonably priced and lined up activities for us at prices that were better than those we could get elsewhere (the Blue Safari was a family favorite of ours).

THEY DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS. THIS IS A CASH-ONLY PROPERTY (including paying the room fee). We have been living in AirBnbs and Booking.coms across Europe, Africa, and Asia for a year and this is the ONLY property we have ever booked that did not accept payment via the app or credit card. I wish they would make that clear upfront as it is difficult to come up with ~$2,000 USD in cash while traveling - particularly when ATMs on Zanzibar are extremely limited, have withdrawal limits, and are frequently out of cash. This was a surprise and caused extra stress on our last day. Jennifer (host) was very helpful in finding a payment solution - but again I think the property should make this policy clear upfront and prominently display the policy in the listing as most people who book online expect the property to accept online payments. As others have mentioned, the internet is intermittent and slow. But I view that as a feature, not a bug since this is the perfect place to read, write, and relax in the pool.
