Chania Paradise Retreat - Falasarna Villa Nostalgia

A beautiful villa in a small rustic village near the most stunning beach. The villa has everything you need, extremely clean and there is gorgeous attention to detail in its furnishings. Good air con, WiFi, mosquito nets, blackout shutters, all the modcons in addition to really comfortable beds (and pillows!) and lots of towels. The outdoor area is superb with a few different zones, a good pool (small but perfect for our three teenagers) and a great gas BBQ. Elpi and his family were the most friendly, kind and responsive hosts. They were available and responded quickly to our queries. They also gave us brilliant recommendations including a wonderful bakery (Boulangerie Tsatsaronakis - stop here for your coffee and pastries on way to beach, we loved the staff here) and a few different restaurants. Platanos is small and underdeveloped, part of its charm with friendly locals. It has a lovely restaurant (Motakis) with Mediterranean food which has a beautiful setting in the original town square and a couple of mini markets which have everything you should need although it might be worth travelling into Kissamos to a larger supermarket and butcher (we went to Meet the meat which I’d recommend) if you plan to eat in and bbq. As for the beach, words can't describe how beautiful the water is. We went to 3 different parts of Falasarna beach which all had slightly different vibes and swimming but our favourite was beside Alea Beach Cafe - a really nice spot for lunch by the beach, it is busy but worth a little wait if needed. A slight negative to the beach is that sunbeds and umbrellas are expensive (€20 - €25 for two beds and an umbrella).

The Villa is so lovely, I can’t find the words to tell you, if you’re looking for cosy home close by to the majestic trips to Balos, Elafonisi and closer still Falasarna, this place is ideal for you. The family who own it literally take you in as their own, so kind and helpful, we will miss them!

didn’t like are strong words, if you’re very particular you may find the pool small, the pictures do flatter it somewhat and the parking is a bit tight, but these aren’t major issues.
