New Villa Geranium

We had a fantastic stay at New Villa Geranium. Mr Veerapen was an excellent host and nothing was too much trouble. There was an issue with the WiFi on our first day and the very next day he’d arranged for a technician to check it and the routers were changed. The house is comfortable and spacious and the outdoor space and pool is lovely to come back to. It’s a 5 min walk to La Croisette Mall for the supermarket, shops, a food court and buses. And a 5 min walk the other way to the coast road as well which will take you to various bars and restaurants. Mme Kiran does an excellent job of cleaning every day.

Nothing we didn’t like. It’s worth noting that a car is beneficial if you want to easily get to other swimming and snorkelling beaches like Mont Choisy or Pereybere, but there are buses too.

This is an excellent holiday option for those looking to book a villa in Northern Mauritius (Grand Baie). It is a modern, recently-built (3-4 years old), extremely well-maintained property which is owned by Mr Veerapen who is a very kind, generous, friendly, approachable and responsive host. He put us at ease from the moment of booking with his timely answers, gave us good local recommendations, arranged our transport to and from the airport in a minivan at reasonable rates and rented us a 7-seater car for the duration of our stay. No praise can be too high for him in all respects. The villa has a nice self-cleaning swimming pool at the entrance and a lovely patio/sit out area to have your meals outdoors. The ground floor has a large hall-cum-dining area with a modern open kitchen attached to it. It's well-furnished with a microwave, a dishwasher, a washing machine, cutlery, cooking utensils etc. The ground floor has a conveniently-placed toilet near the back door entry. There is a large smart TV with all apps and fast Wi-Fi installed (range extenders are provided for upstairs coverage). The villa is located in a very silent area with no external sounds and one can wake up to the sounds of birds chirping every morning. It is fairly close to the large La Croisette Mall (5 minutes' walk away). One needs a car for all other activities as Mauritius has negligible public transport. The first floor is spacious, has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The master bedroom has a nice walk-in closet. Bedrooms are not crowded and contain modern air conditioning. Bathrooms are very large and the shower area, water pressure and water supply are all excellent. They are in extremely good condition with zero mould or fungus. There is a housekeeper (Ms Kiran) who comes in daily at noon (except Sundays) and tidied up the house extremely efficiently. She also cooked a couple of tasty Mauritian meals for us on request.

Being from India, we felt the heat on the large ground floor area (which only had a single pedestal fan) so maybe a couple more of these, placed strategically, would be highly appreciated. Everything else was perfect.

It was spacious, clean and well equipped. The pool and gardens were lovely. The owner was brilliant. Couldn’t do enough for us and helped us organise trips at a good price. The cleaner also cooked a few meals for us which were delicious

The walk to the beach wasn’t far but there are no pavements for most of it

This property was amazing, and so was the host/owner. He allowed us to do early check in, checked up on us every few days via text. He was very friendly and easy to communicate with. We were 5-10 minutes walking distance to La Croissette shopping center, and 15 mins walking distance to the Main Street in Grand Baie. Very convenient and would highly recommend. When I return to Mauritius one day I will definitely look to try and book this same place. My family of 5 and one of my cousins from the island stayed with us and we all absolutely loved it.

Nothing to complain about

The villa is huge with a generous terrace for a BBQ and a perfectly maintained garden with a swimming pool. The place is nicer in reality than in the photos. The host was always helpful and fulfilled everything to our satisfaction. I would definitely stay here again.

The Villa is awesome, very big, always clean and located quite close to the sea and to the mall, the pool is simply fantastic! The owner Mr Veerapen is very very kind and always available for everything we needed. We really enjoyed our stay in Mauritius and we will come back for sure in the summer season. Thank you Mr. Veerapen, you’re a great host!
