Ananda Private Villa

The location was great. Walking distance to the action but quiet at night.

Comfortable bed

This is a hard review to write because we have stayed in some amazing places both very expensive and cheap but this place is not up to standard. It is crazy expensive for the quality. Yes it is a villa but it is tired, old and in need of major updating. Down a dirty run down side street opposite a laundry and right next to the Mosque. The place was boiling, the air con not switched on until we arrived. Took forever to become cooler but still hot. There was a power cut just after midnight and all the air con turned off and the ‘villa attendant’ had taken the controls so we boiled all night as no way to turn it back on. Massive cockroaches inside the villa Showers went from boiling to freezing and the walls were mouldy. Dirty pool with the filter not switched on Only 2 pool towels for our party of 3! Filthy dirty gazebo bedding Lounge sofa cover filthy dirty Fridge only switched on when we arrived. Breakfast was the weirdest most disappointing. There was NO menu to choose from so we asked for pancakes and fresh juice and coffee to be served at 7am. At 7:30 we had to wake the villa manager as he hasn’t shown up. Once breakfast did arrive it was One pancake each (this was tasty) instant coffee and a diluted orange. Broken clothes horse.

Oh the courtyard pool is so lovely and peaceful and the villa is very comfortable. The staff were lovely and so helpful!

Really, nothing! We stayed only one night passing through last minute - we wished we could have stayed longer.

The property is really nice, in a walkable distance from harbour. In front of the building you can use laundry service which is nice. The place is rather quite, you can hear party sounds coming from the beach side but it didn’t disturb us. The other guy (not Alibaba) was very constructive and helpful in place, cleaned the property when we asked, helped us to take our luggage to the harbour without asking, helped us to open the gate when we had our shopping bags. He seemed to be professional and not intrusive.

When we checked-in we didn’t receive any information about breakfest. Next morning, when I texted to host’s representative it appeared that he intended to come in and cook breakfest for us. We refused and were ready to cook breakfest ourselves. Breakfest supplies were rather ascetic - 6 eggs, amout later decreased to five (for three adults), tomatoe and toast for each. At the check-out morning we had a question whether we want breakfest. Communication with Alibaba was least to say werid. It wasn’t possible to arrange some things, althiugh I have to admit he tried. He offered us super expensive one day boat trip and wanted to come with us. He was polite but akward to my perception. We asked to turn on water pump for the pool, which for short time was done, otherwise water seemed to require attention. Two days after check-out I got request from Alibaba suggesting to write a good review on our stay. In a female company I guess I would feel werid.

Villa was beautiful and in a great location, easy to find just off the Main Street 6 minutes from the docks. Garden and pool were beautiful, full of pretty wildlife. We even encountered a crab by the pool on a rainy night. Full island experience. Staff were amazing and friendly.

Both the outdoor showers were a bit dodgy and could use maintenance, very pretty though. The mosque is close by and play prayers very loudly throughout the day. Almost the entire day on their religious holidays. But you can hear them through the whole island not just the villa. We got used to it but probably not ideal if you have young kids that nap during the day.

Alibaba and Mohammed were very welcoming and were always on hand to assist. No ask was too big or too small. They even made our breakfast in the villa. Having your own pool to relax after a long day is a bonus. They are Ideally located close enough to walk to the restaurants but far enough not to be bothered by the night life.

Size, friendly attentive staff and location. Pool was lovely and gazebo offered some respite from the sun.

Only advice is not to cut and paste property address from booking.com to Google maps, we ended up waking a 15 mins away from property and then had to go back. I would suggest adding Adanda private Villa and easily found this way.
