a little far from local shops if you’re walking but it’s worth it for the view

The property was a quiet villa in the hills above the town of Formia with everything that you could wish for for a quiet and relaxing break. My family and I (my wife and her parents and teenage sisters) found we had plenty of space to relax and soak up the fantastic views of Formia and the gulf of Gaeta. Paola was an amazing host who ensured that the incredible pool was cleaned every night. The gardener was a regular visitor to ensure the garden was kept pristine. The property is a wonderful family home and the well equipped kitchen meant we could cook with the amazing local produce. The small town of Formia has a number of small shops with local produce but a larger supermarket was a 10min drive through the town for all of the basics required. Formia it’s self is a great base in which to visit Roma and Napoli (and beyond) with a great train links to save longer drives. Parking in Formia itself can be tricky but we found that an 8€ all day car park at the rail station to be a great option. We had a hire car for the majority of the visit (essential, as walking down and up the road to Formia was tricky). We found ourselves struggling to book a taxi after we were unable to extend our car hire to include our checkout date because of 15th August national holiday but Paola came to the rescue to drop us to the train station for the train back to Napoli airport.
