"Pleasant villa marred by too many problems and poor & inadequate response from owner - caveat emptor"

Good location, close to Santa Eularia, set on hillside with nice views.

Arrived Sunday for 1 week, problems started on arrival: dishwasher not working, fixed Thursday pm; no hot water in kitchen, so boiling kettles for hand washing up, fixed late Saturday; coffee machine u/s, replaced Thursday pm; nasty drain smells in one bathroom, plumber attempted fix, not sorted before we left. All of this was communicated in a timely manner to the agent & owner but it took ages to get things sorted, which took the edge off the stay. I understand that things go wrong but there were too many issues, and they weren't fixed quickly; I can’t imagine they all started on our arrival or that none were brought to the owner’s attention previously. They could have provided better information for guests, e.g. location of nearest supermarkets, recycling bins, as you have to remove/recycle all rubbish, good beaches etc. Also, as it is common advice not to drink the island tap water, it would have been good to have a welcome pack, including bottled water, but there was no welcome pack of any kind. Things like that don't cost a lot or take much to organise; it was disappointing they were missing. The owner’s response to this review is unsatisfactory. Do they expect guests to rifle through cupboards to find replacements for faulty equipment? If there were spare coffee machines why didn’t the AGENT get one out! If the machine was caulked, why don’t they maintain them? Great to know the welcome guide was locked away! To correct the item about the tourist tax, the agent was clueless and it took several days to clarify the correct tax. I didn’t “overlook” to pay the tax, I was waiting on a response from the owners to a request for a rebate for all the hassle. Disappointingly I got no answer on this before or after leaving the villa. I did pay the tax on return, even though the issues had not been satisfactorily dealt with.
