Candle House

New oven and dishwasher. House was clean upon arrival. Bath did need to be cleaned before though as not clean.

Mice at the pool. Reported it and told given rural location this is common and that any rodents removed daily. This isn't true. Mouse on the floor area around the pool was there for at least 3 days. Mouse i found in the filter in the swimming pool was removed after reporting it. Should have been picked up on a more frequent inspection during the day. I had unfortunately swam in the pool prior to my young son finding the Mouse. Decided not to use any of the other facilities such as sauna, jacuzzi etc... as all looked in poor condition and not worth the money in my view given a hotel would have included these facilities at rhe daily rate we paid for the Candle House. Also didnt like the couch as very uncomfortable. Stayed in the candle house and could hear bats in the roof space above my head at night. Not surprising given, so many roof tiles missing off a number of properties. All generally in poor condition. Paths and hedges all poorly maintained with weeds growing all over paths and a hazard in wet weather with slippy moss near the lake bridge crossing. Tennis courts and seating at courts were all dirty and hadn't been maintained for a long time by the look of them. Basketball net is rusty and shares area with tennis courts so not possible to use both at the same time. Walkways around the properties poorly maintained and also poorly maintained down to the river Venta. Making it inaccessible and potential lethal as the scrub and debris on paths is a trip hazard. Fall down there, and you'll never be found. A bit like the dead mouse by the pool. Drive to the properties is via an old forest road. I understand that this is a temporary route whilst the other road is being fixed. Wasn't made aware of this prior to booking. It is a huge inconvenience as it adds a significant number of kilometres round-trip should you be staying there for a few days. We stayed in the candle house for 4 nights. House was fine, nothing really special. Nice large beds.

Our time here was pure bliss. This spot is incredibly comfortable and cozy, genuinely feeling like a little slice of heaven. The banya, sauna, and pool facilities were excellent and provided wonderful relaxation. Plus, the stunning natural surroundings, with the forest and river, added so much to the peaceful atmosphere.

Spacious, warm and clean rooms. Everything you need for a comfortable stay for several days (we missed just dish sponge and scissors). Great Christmas spirit- even without snow. Beautiful garden and walking areas. Welcome guests.

- A gravel road for several kilometers leads through the forest. Lots of potholes and difficult driving in wet weather. Be careful of wild beasts, especially after dark. We met them twice while we reached our destination.
