Villa Domingues

Ligging en keurig verzorgd (schoon).

Hadden het appartement groter verwacht, niet echt comfortabel om hier met 6 volwassenen langere tijd te verblijven (eerder 4 volwassenen en 2 kinderen). En inmiddels wat verouderd, heeft een upgrade nodig op een aantal fronten (o.a. bedden en keuken).

Fint med ett litet hotell och fin trädgård.

Väldigt lyhört när man bodde på bottenvåningen. Alla respekterade inte att det skulle vara tyst efter kl 22.00.

Pretty much liked everything about the property - cute and colourful, included a courtyard, great kitchen amenities with a communal washer/dryer. Lovely quiet location with local cafes with a short walk to the main streets of Lisbon. Pedro was very helpful.

Location very close to Metro and transport. Nice safe neighbourhood.

Under a flightpath

Beliggenheten var helt topp. Leiligheten er kompakt, men praktisk og fin. Villa Domingues er en liten oase med bugnende busker og trær. Pedro tar godt vare på stedet.

Terrassen var litt smal og trang, men vi fikk plass og brukte den flittig under oppholdet. Vårt rom hadde også en liten badekulp som var deilig i varmen

We liked the style of the property and the renovation was sympathetically undertaken. There are some lovely touches eg the old shutters reused in the property. Also the bed was comfy and the furniture matched the place. Pedro, the owner, was very pleasant when we arrived, he even let us in early. He was accommodating, initially, when we raised issues (see box below) with him. But as he is not onsite 24 hours he is powerless to rectify any problems that arise other than by phone at night.

The biggest problem was the noise from the other apartments around us in the block. The garden space is lovely but was unusable due to close proximity with the neighbours, who in our case were noisy (loud music and shouting) and chain smoking (both inside and outside of their apartments) at all hours. We had to put a rug to our front door to stop the smoke from coming in. Be aware, too, that the Metro goes underneath the building and will disturb your sleep if you are a light sleeper. Inside our apartment, there were issues with cleanliness: kitchen needed a deep clean, the daybed and cushions in the lounge (which is also the sofa) smelled of body odours and seemed to have not been laundered for a long time, we had to cover them with a blanket to use it. The mattress cover on the main bed was stained and worn out and really needed replacing. After we left the apartment, we raised the cleanliness issues with Pedro (on the day we left, by text) but he was unwilling to listen because we had not raised them at the time, we explained that we had not raised them due to the other issues we had going on. We stand by our comments to Pedro about this being a great looking place to stay, however, we paid 250 Euros per night (5 nights) to stay at Villa Domingues, it really is not worth half this amount. We felt shut down by Pedro as he refused to recognise our comments and did not respond to our last email. We would not stay here again for the above reasons and cannot recommend it to other travellers.
