The place feels really cozy and homely. Nice bathroom and kitchen, which makes this place suitable for longer stays. We felt right at home!

Literally the only thing I didn't like is that the stairs are very narrow which makes it hard to get big suitcase upstairs. But that's a very very minor issue. Second small issue is that the city tourist tax isn't included in the price and had to be payed cash (1000 yen each, so no big deal).

Such a beautiful house. It had anything we needed and it was so cozy and comfortable. We loved it. :)

Just perfect, really friendly welcome and English possible

We stayed over two weeks with our 11 month old baby to get a sense of local living in Kyoto. Beds super comfortable, functional kitchen with appliances (rice cooker was great!) and utensils, blend of heritage design and modern convenience. A highlight was all the yummy affordable food from the local oasis supermarket. Well located on two train lines. The host was very kind to purchase a high chair for our baby thank you!

Not a deal breaker but a bit dusty and cluttered - could be improved by opening up floor space by removing some items and a deep clean to remove dust.

Booking the whole house for 5 people was a great idea! We came in November and the weather was warm with chilly mornings and evenings. The bathroom is not heated but this was not a big inconvenience, as the hot water was flowing. Each of us had a separate room with futon or bed. The kitchen is well equipped and the washing machine make lives easier. Thank you for the stay. We will recommend and we would come back!

Well located and easy access with public transport. The house has all you need to comfort you. The host, Lois and Susan are very nice and friendly. We had the great stay there.

a really beautiful Machiya with a cute outdoor space. the interior is old and rustic with wooden beams and tatami floors. it has a large Genkan with lots of space, the “living room” area is very comfortable! the bedrooms where spacious and the beds comfortable. the house is a 5 minute walk from the local station, which you can either take the subway into central kyoto or the local above ground train to Arashiyama! there is also excellent spots to eat very close.

the bathroom had some spots of black mould. there is not a lot of space to dry clothes, as there isn’t a dryer. in that respect there isn’t a lot of facilities for air drying besides the small rail outside and a fold out drying rack with clips; the majority of which had degraded and broken from being outside in the elements. I believe that it would be manageable if a couple was staying there, but it was difficult with 4 peoples worth of laundry.
